    XP discs

Hi....I have been looking at XP pro discs, allegedly genuine and unused on Ebay for around £35. Sounds cheap. Anyone had any experience with these, mostly, but not all, from Germany. (and all with SP2or3)......

First, if you buy one, I'd try installing it on a PC that you don't use much encase the language is German. Also, if you find out you bought a pirate copy you can report that EBay seller to EBay and they will have their account banned. I know they can create another but they will find things awkward when they have to re-sort all their products under another account, mostly when item are going in high prices in auctions and then that member will lose out on a lot of on-coming money for the time being that might fetch less under another account.

I quit buying DVD's, CD's and software from EBay because there's too many people selling pirate copies. Even if this copy of Windows XP is genuine, as I said, you don't know if it's in German.

I've bought the film Killer Fish from somebody from Holland and it is in English but it was pre-set in Italian and that is strange because it was a DVD that was pre-set in Italian as a Dutch sale and I also bought El Cid years ago from somebody in China and the language was pre-set in French but luckily it also had English. Be careful of the EBay sales and the countries you buy from.

If you do buy this Windows XP and it turns out to be a pirate copy, you can also report the EBay seller to Microsoft. Most people fall for pirating products where the disc has a purple bottom and no pre-recorded material has purple bottoms unless it's a Limited Edition disc where the whole disc is purple like a Limited Edition copy of the film The Colour Purple.

Thanks Dazuk.....They do say English version, and genuine unused, but who knows?? Maybe will wait as I only need a backup disc in case my HP backup on D partition doesnt work when I need it. Have no wish to get Vista or the newer version, rather keep XP !!! Cheers.
