Eventually I'll work through all the apps on my hotkeys page to recompile without UPX compression. There's nothing wrong with UPX but I'm told some av give off false positives when the exe is compressed using UPX. The download size isn't much changed but the exe files will show a bit larger on disk. All the stuff is less than a MB anyway. Just thought I'd mention it in case people wonder why the sizes seem larger.

FolderCache v. 4.0
Les, I hope you like this change because I know it makes it easier for me to use.
FolderCache v. 4.0
Now you can enter more than one folder in the Edit Line, separated by
a semicolon(';') to simply type in multiple folders and open them all by
hitting Enter.
For example if I want to open 3 folders without picking them out of the list I can type: c:\Windows;c:\work;d:\SomeOtherFolder and hit the Enter key.
The folders are checked to exist and pushed on the stack, so that you can still
select folders from the listbox and push onto the stack, prior to hitting Enter
in the Edit Line. When you hit Enter all the folders in the stack will be popped,
checked to exist, and then opened. The folder won't be added to the stack if it's already in.
For multiple entry in the Edit Line to work, Enter must be pressed while the input focus is in the Edit Line.
I'm pretty sure all the other stuff will still work as before but please let me know if you spot a bug.

ReOpen v. 4.0
and it's available from download from my page.
I should have added this a long time ago. This was how I most often used the
SlickRun mini-command line utility. Enter in a bunch of folder names separated
by a ';' to open 'em at once. Very convenient.Last edited by MilesAhead; 1 May 2010, 06:21 AM.Comment

Looks interesting. But it doesn't appear that you can enter part names too. Entering C:\windows is a pain and I can use the address bar for that.
Still, for opening a single folder, that still works.

Command prompts do auto completion by passing it onto cmd.exe. To write it myself would be too much spaghetti. But I often want to open 2 or 3 folders in the root of drives like
f:;g:;h:
now I can just type that and hit Enter instead of opening explorer and clicking a bunch of drives.
Plus if you already have C:\Windows\System32 in the list you can select it and push the button to Stack it, then type the short drive paths or stuff like C:\tmp2;c:\temp
Another way to get a long path in the Edit Line it to select it and press Alt Left Click. It's pasted in the Edit Line.Last edited by MilesAhead; 1 May 2010, 09:24 AM.Comment

As Rocky said after Bullwinkle pulled a lion out of a hat, "and how here's something you'll really like"
FolderCache 4.1
In addition to using the "visit hotkey page" command in the Tray Menu, now
in FolderCache all you have to do is put the pipe character('|') by itself in
the Edit Line and hit Enter. Default browser will be opened to FavesSoft
hotkey page. If anything follows the pipe on the line, it will be assumed to
be a URL and an attempt will be made to open default browser to that page.Comment

FolderCache 4.2
Added F1 Help while Popup Window is displayed.
(requires TreePad Lite 3 or higher)
edit: If the TreePad format help file is not found or TreePad is not installed,
F1 falls back to trying to display the Readme file. (file version 4.2.0.2)Last edited by MilesAhead; 2 May 2010, 05:56 AM.Comment

What is TreePad and why don't you simply make a CHM with HTML Help Workshop? Users shouldn't have to install a utility to read help Miles.

You click a node to display the associated text. With .chm every time I make a change I have to recompile the .chm file. With TreePad files I edit and click save. It's done.
The only shortcoming of using TreePad Lite is there's no graphics support. These applications are simple enough that diagrams aren't needed.
It's way more organized and easier to navigate than a Readme with the same size file. In fact it's just a text file with a few markup keywords.
The Readme has the download link. Try it before you denigrate it.
edit: to show the difference, instead of this:
you see this:

ReOpen 4.2
ReOpen v. 4.2
F1 Help is now available while the Popup Window is open.
TreePad Lite 3 or higher is required.* If the TreePad format
help file is not found or TreePad is not installed, it reverts
to displaying the Readme.

This takes about 1 second! I know cos I do it for PgcEdit help, which is much bigger than FolderCache. It really is very simple to organise. As well, you are trying to make things easier for the user and not the author - you recognise that the readme is unwieldy and real help is needed.
I'm not denigrating it - I'm just saying that proper help should be installed and that users shouldn't have to load something that is not native just to get proper help.

Please yourself - but as I said, the readme is wayyyy too cumbersome - even you recognise that - and a CHM would top the app off nicely IMHO.
And, as before, in order to get help in an easily readable format, users need to install this TreePad function. Even the lite version requires installation. I, for one, don't want to mess up my system with a prog that is used by only one app, when a CHM should be available. Miles, given the ease of writing a CHM for this app, I really think you are missing the boat by insisting on TreePadLite. JMHO.

Suit yourself. Good looking help is included requiring only a small free available application to view. That's your choice.
edit: as usual, you spur me on to making an enhancement.
The Readme is now analogous to the TreePad help.
Paragraph heading, then text instead of Tree Node, then text.
Same info in both... with the addition that the Readme has
revision history.Last edited by MilesAhead; 3 May 2010, 04:08 AM.Comment

btw as alternative to TreePad Lite you can download TreePad Viewer.
It can be run without installation.
But I recommend TreePad Lite as it is not made to handle graphics and
it snaps open much faster.Comment

After reading the docs a bit more I realize TreePad Lite may be used without install. There is also an option to store settings in the same folder as the exe. I added a command to the Tray Menu .. Choose Help Reader so that the help reader can be called with the help file without even having a file association registered for .hjt file type.
The sequence is, if you chose Help File Reader using the Tray Menu or set it manually in the .ini file, that will be used to open the .hjt help file. If that is blank, the file association will be tried.. if that is not registered, the Readme file will be displayed.
Version 4.3 with this update has been uploaded to my hotkey page and is available now.Last edited by MilesAhead; 7 May 2010, 08:30 AM.Comment
