New Build Finished. Just Drivers and Updates Now For 64 bit 7:

Ok guys so my new build is all but finished. All it's waiting for is the 64 Bit Drivers and any bios updates to my mobo. So as I understand the Vista 64 Bit drivers will do correct?

I figured I install 64 Bit in new build since I have XP Home on other 2 pc's w/data and OS's backed up. I must admit I do like that interface on 7. I saw your attachments atifsh. I'll need to learn more about XP running in 7 if I'm correct that it can. I'll use this thread to post any concerns and results. Since it's 7 I figured why not post it in the 7 forum.

yes vista drivers will work, or check for any 7 beta drivers available frm device manuf.. or windows update.

installing n using xpmode it very simple, u just need hardware virtualization.
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

I thought I had a workable bootable copy of 64 bit 7 but I think it didn't come out right or I need something to make the files workable before creating a bootable disc. I have a bootable 32 bit 7, but rather play w/64 bit 7. I'm just now finished burning the files w/ImgBurn. Hopefully it took. If not I'll just have to dl the 64 from M$.

I'm happy though. My new build came off lovely. All I need is a OS now. Lol...

I didn't know you had to install XP into 7 to make it work w/it. I thought it was part of it. Anyhow, I'll post back asaic w/results. Thnx atifsh.

What's wrong with 7077? Do you mean it's shutting down due to the licensing? I'm using it and it tells me it's fine until March 1, 2010

No not the licensing. I guess some had issues w/7077 and others not. It could of been a bios update my new mobo needed which I installed w/EZ Flash, but it still would hang and not complete installation and then restart my new pc.

After the Bios update I ran my XP home disc just to see if it would take and it did w/out any issues. I'm almost more than 1/2 way through downloading both 32 and 64 bit 7 RC1. I think though I might use my Dell for the 32 bit. I'm pretty certain it could handle the 32 7. The 64 7 I don't know if I'll take a chance on my previous build. It can handle it, although I would prolly be better throwing 2 more sticks of Ram in it.

My new build is ot$$4. AM3 cpu, BFG GPU, 2 sticks OCZ DDR3 High performance ram and the Asus M4A78T-E mobo. I like the way Asus is laying out their boards. I almost totally didn't even realise it had a IDE port. They put it on the side facing out which is cool imo.

I'll be honest though, I like building for now, but I can see why you just buy and play w/them and send them back if need to. A lil taxing after a while. I'm tired. Although towards the end here I said what's the rush, and put it together nicely.

I like 7. it is nice to the eyes. Gotta give Billy G. his prop$$$.

Just a quick tip if you didn't know already, but the guy from nLite has vlite 4 vista and now working on 7 lite also which can make a bootable out of some 7's that didn't come w/the boot file. The vlite can on the 7.

I'm not too familiar w/how Billy's done in the past in regards to the public and windows, but 4 now I think they're trying to get things somewhat right. I really wish IE was as good and secure as FF or any other browser. It still loads faster than FF.

If I had the room I'd prolly be tempted to put a couple of PCs together. But my setup as it is requires a kvma switch just to use 2 towers under the table. If I had room for a workbench I'd just network my old PCs instead of chuckin' 'em. But no setup is perfect. At least with this dual machine setup when I replace a PC I have one in place running a network with internet access. The new PC usually boots up smelling the network.

didnt see a single one that dont boot, specially after 7000 builds. only the few before 7000 were without boot because they were vhd files as orignal..

They're out there atifsh. not many maybe but I got a whole set of 64 bit 7100 files and for the life of me couldn't do anything w/them. Pulled a all nighter last night trying to create a bootable w/ImgBurn and Googling. There were several posts where some guys couldn't boot and had to use one of those magic .iso's to create a boot disc.

@ Miles I was walking home about 2 weeks ago and found a almost new wooden table w/the white tiles on top. The ones seen at Ikea etc... I brought it home and it's perfect 4 my setup. I have both screens on top w/both keyboards. My 1 set of speakers around the room and the other set also w/one on top of table. Now I have 3 towers under the table. My Dell to my left and the now new build and present build to my right. These guys/gals out here get tired of their new furniture quickly and chuck out some new stuff sometimes.

How's that kvma switch? Is it reliable? I heard they weren't that workable a while back. I'd like to know cause it would be nice just to use 1 set of keyboard/mouse. The screens I think I like separate. Just my new builds now will share my screen. The Dell has its own.

I've been using this Belkin kvma switch forever. No problem. Only thing is you need to boot the "right hand side" first to initialize the keyboard correctly. I have just a 2 PC switch but it's totally powered by PS/2 keyboard and mouse connections. If you need to use those programmable keyboard buttons or want wireless mouse or keyboard, then it's not for you. On the plus side, when I buy a PC I just get the box with tower mouse keyboard. Don't have to buy monitor or speakers.

my point is why are u getting rubbish ... if they arnt iso's means there must be something fishy.... specially when 7100 is RC1 and is available frm microsoft then why one would get the bunch of files...

running 7201 now ... soon RTM...

                          I'm a rookie to this stuff atifsh. I dl'ed the 7077 a while back b4 7100 went to RC1. It's ok I'm learning and getting better.

I agree w/you 100%. This 7 is lovely. I have it on my Dell w/the 32 Bit. I like it very much. So easy for installation. Man IE 8 is nice too. I don't know though if I need any drivers because it hooked up to the net and everything and I have'nt installed any drivers. The graphics are lil large kinda normal, that's about it. I hear sound from my speakers.

I dl'ed some 32 Vista drivers from Dell's site just in case. Help me out if you can and if i need to install anything that you might know about.

My Dell's a E3100 XP. Thnx. Way to go to M$ imo w/this new 7.

@ Miles Thnx for letting me know about the switch. I use regular keyboard/mouse no fancy buttons to configure and I can use the ps/2 also if needed. They came w/the adapters. Will ordinary usb key/mouse work also though? Or I would have to get a switch that takes them. Thnx.

No more speakers here 4 now either. Just bought the 2nd set of Dell's to accommodate my 1st build. I like them and they're stronger/sturdier built than other 2.1 sets I saw out there 4 desktop use. Even more better made than some Logitech ones I looked at.

@dr_ml422 to be honest I don't know what they have now for USB. This switch is so old there's only PS/2 and VGA, speaker and mic attachments. If you have multiple systems you'd probably get one that has a powered box with more options. Also there's network software that you can use to share mouse and keyboard. You just move the mouse and it automatically switches the focus to the other machine etc.. I have tried those a bit but since I do programming it's too easy(or at least it used to be back in Win98) to crash the network stuff. So I went with a hw switch. If you're not a programmer a sw virtual switch might work for you.

if everythings working no need to get any drivers, unless u see drivers update on windows update. 7's windows update has many drivers and updates if u need one it will show.

if u have nvidia card u can get drivers for that straight from nvidia, nice of them to put 7 drivers on theior web since start.
