Wow, this is unbelievable. Everything's fine just like you said. I haven't tried to watch a video or play music, but like you said if windows 7 update hasn't told me anything then I guess I'm Ok. It says 2 days for automatic activation. Idk how much more activation. I put in the product code M$ gave me in installation.

It does tell me I don't have windows update configured/on or something like that. I'll check further. I was so use to not adding anything in XP Home sp3 that I never used updates after that.

Btw how many evaluation copies can you dl? I would like to put this on my new build. The Dell has the 32 Bit 7. Would I be able if I wanted to put another 32 Bit 7 on my new build? I have the 64 Bit also of 7. Maybe I should put the 64 Bit 7 on the new build. I do want the option of putting 32 Bit 7 on there as well though.

Yes Nvidia did put the 7 drivers on there and my gpu for my new build is a BFG Nvidia. I dl'ed all the 64 Bit drivers for the new build including the nvidia ones. I'm just a lil fearful of putting this new 7 on the new build. Don't want to mess anything up. Then again it would be a new OS. Idk, M$ says not to try on main pc. This one is new pc not main one. It will be soon hopefully.

    Thnx for that link.

@ Miles I thought all along the ps/2 was newr than USB that's why I asked. That's how new I am to some stuff still. So I guess USB came afterwards then as new implementation.

Yes, no need to DL again if you placed it on a disc, just make sure you get the key for the right version (32 or 64), click below and log in then where it shows the key, write it down and hit the back arrow, and a new key should appear.

          It is HERE

Thnx copyless. I just got 2 more of each. I'll prolly try the 64 7 on my new build see how it takes.

Great. 64 7 is on my new build. I'll start playing and tweaking soon. Windows Index Experience gave some of my system devices high ratings, and others midlevel. Idk how accurate they are, but I have here a pretty decent baby monster build. I really like this 7. I'll be buying several more hdd's to backup. Really big jump from XP Home. I'll check asaic what apps. we commonly use are compatible.

now if u have virtualization enabled system try xp mode and u dont have to worry about ur applications... just forgoet about games that only work on xp.

also click as the pic, u get little more speed.
              Attached Files
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

You mean some systems come w/a virtualization feature? Or is this some software that has to be added to the 7? Thnx. I remember asking about 7 having XP built into it or something like that in another post. I just don't remember the specifics. Mof I think you replied.

Also do you mean to uncheck the box in this attachment, or check it? it says don't check unless backup power etc...etc...

Btw I was getting ahead of myself w/installing 64 7 in my new build. Let me learn 32 7 1st then play w/64. I'm not going to rush and go nuts either. I could imagine if there are some apps. that don't work on 32 7 then they sure won't work on 64 7.

1: VIRTULIZATIOn is a processor function, and only few intel processors have it, mostly the expensive ones, and probably most AMD processors have it, not sure about that.

2: u have to check it, if u have lot of power issues then let it unchecked, otherwise check it.

3: if any application doesnt work then thats what xpmode is for.

Thnx atifsh. i'm going to check the new bios update for my mobo and see if it supports virtualization. also i think my presnt build m2n-e supports virtualization. I think once I get all the info I will prolly put 32 7 on my new build w/the virtualization for xpm. I could also do the 64 7 w/xpm virtualization if supported, but think it maybe better to learn 32 7 1st. Even though there might not be much of a difference system wise except for compatible apps. for 64 bit and speed if 64 7 suppose to be faster.

Once I find out if virtualization is supported, which it says it does, then i'll prolly put 32 7 w/xpm in case of incompatible apps. I'll read up on what exactly 64 bit brings and differs from 32 7. I want to install more goodies into both my new build and present build w/regards to a lot of asus' unique features. I didn't bother w/any on my present build except for some simple oc'ling of mem and cpu multiplier.

do you or any of the fellas have 64 7 running somewhere? If so what's main diff from 32 7? Thnx.

You know I think Europe or Japan use 64 bit os's and we're lagging on that. at least I heard that much.

Thnx Miles. I bookmarked it. I've been kinda like a chicken w/out a head lately. after i get settled I'll choose the better way to get acquainted w/7 and on what pc. The dell and my now old build both have XP home hdd backups so no worry there. I don't want to have 7 on 2 or efven 3 pc's at a time and would like to get this new build working w/something.

Well my ? was answered via a issue w/my support DVD not opening in 7 32 Bit. It installed most drivers except for 1 that it stated wasn't really needed. When I installed 64 7 b4 on my new build it took everything except the support DVD contents and utilities. Only 1 I was able to install was the Express Gate Feature. I will have to wait until ASUS puts out support for 7 regarding their support DVD w/drivers and utilities. So there's my answer. Works out as I have the power ram 4 the 64 7 and now that I really know what I have in my hands, my mobo is geared mostly towards gaming. Not a bad thing at all. I'll play w/7 32 on my Dell and 64 7 on my new build. Going to be a while to really get into 7 period, but I really like it so that's that.

Ole process of elimination is still active nowadays. Lol...
