I had ffdshow and MPC installed. The ffdshow was the one b4 this 2981. It would play all my files on the hdd, but it wouldn't open a disc in my odd. I put in several different discs including new ones and still it would stop and shut down my pc and restart. Too quick also to read the error messages.
Anyhow I got on the phone w/nVidia and the tech suggested installing VLC player to see if it was the player and not my pc. VLC played everything. I had shyed away from VLC because it had taken over my video and mp3 files, but now I learned to uncheck those options in preferences in install.
Anyhow if anyone had any issues and came out w/a fix let us know. Only thing that bugs me is those codecs. Pita when they start acting up. No fun though if you don't watch or play something on these machines. I'll be Gaming soon. Heck got the artillery so best use it.
