    MagicJack

Has any one bought it and how does it work. Have seen a lot of problems posted and people complaining that the audio quality is poor. Also complaining about severe echo and drop calls and could not get the device registered with the magicjack registration server.

A guy at Radio Shack tried to explain it to me the other day.

He said that High speed internet, and the regular phone service etc. uses T1 quality. He said this is most common.
On a lower end is T3 quality in which the Magic Jack utilitizes. That would explian the unreliable but unlimited service at a bargain.

I am going to get one, I have been on their web site and to buy it it is $39.99 which includes your first year of phone service also. Also they are running a special for $59.99 for 5 years of phone service.

I bought the magicjack. The setup is was a piece a cake. I had no problems at all. The sound quality is excellent. I do not see why all the people had problems setting up the magicjack. I am guessing that they are not very computer literate. That is the only thing that I can come up with. It is a very good investment, for people like me on a limited income.

I'll have to check into it. The only thing I would maybe use one for is for the fax machine.

But at that price it would be worth it instead of paying someone to do it.

It is cheaper then vonage which is $24.95 a month. Only once have I heard an echo on a phone call. The voice mail is nice also, you get a email with an wave file of the voice mail. That is also a nice feature too. So far I would say that it is worth the money. I am going to run to the storage locker and get the fax machine and see if that works and let you know on that one.

I had one and took it back. No local area code, so those who called me had to pay LD chargers.
The computer has to be on 24/7 if you want incoming calls at any time.
I didnt care for the popup screen everytime the phone was used.

Other than that no too bad for the price.

You lock the door, throw away
              the key,
              There's someone in my head
              and it's not me.

I am trying to save some money so I decided to take a chance. I had a older computer that I am using. So I am not worried about that.

MagicJack seems stupid to me... as do all VoIP.

Man, I miss hard lines. We still have one, but most people don't. Cell phones are where it's all at - why would you want to waste your expensive high speed Internet service on voice calls?

It is great for people that are on limited income. I am on disability. I only had 2 jobs since I was injured. I was injured on the job in 02/17/01. The income I get from the accident I am in the poverty level of income. So I have to watch my money very carefully. That is why I chose to buy the magicjack.

A lot of $$ savings. If you already connect to the internet anyhow, why not. $19.95 a year after the first year.
                      Can't beat the price.

Also most VOIP plans have unlimited long distance and lots of other features included that most hard line companies charge you for.

I'm pretty sure most landlines now have free calls anywhere in the country. Cellphones are just minutes a month, not based on area.

I have just heard numerous complaints about MagicJack, so I avoid those things like the plague.

Again you have amazed me with your narrow-mindedness.
Don;t forget that not everyone lives at home with mom and dad.
Lots of people live on fixed income and with today's economy, folks are having to look for various alternatives and methods to save money and stretch what they have.
Magicjack is an excellent example of a product that does just that.
I set my mom up with one and it works great for her.

To each their own. As a person on Social Security that is disabled and unable to work to buy better than the I'd like I don't have those kind of options.

Good luck with yours. BTW Qwest still charges by the minute, and that is the only hardline option we have in our area. VOIP does however.

I know WOW cable has a phone bundle that has unlimited domestic calling. We don't use it, though, as we've had too many WOW crashes, but AT&T isn't too bad either, we have unlimited long distance on one line (my mom's work line) and then just unlimited local/set number of long distance minutes a month on the other unlisted one.
