    Windows Experience Index aka WEi score

    now most of u know how bad that system is and many ppl since ages are shouting about it... well thats how bad it is....

    my dell xps 210 i was using as HTPC has a score of 3.5 3.5 for both graphics and gaming, with integrated chip G965 GMA X3000. (not tobe confused with GMA 3000).

    i recently got a x600 low profile frm someone who doesnt use his pc anymore, put it in my xps and the index went down to 2.5i reran test and still 2.5 and 2.8. now i know x600 has tobe better, i downloaded old 3dmark 2003 for such card and the result was x600 came twice as fast to GMA X3000. now microsoft pls explain why the hell that WEi still exsist in 7.

    ill be installing probable RTM 7 build just to recheck in a day or 2.
    Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

    I can give you my WEI numbers for some other comparison, originally for graphics and gaming it was 5.5 and 5.6 for a 8500 card when I replaced it with the GT 9800 it went to 5.9 and 5.9. The total WEI is processor 5.9, memory 5.7, graphics 5.9, gaming 5.9, and primary HD 5.9.

      G965 GMA X3000 was designed for Vista

      Most of the x600's were extremely lame

          Seems the GMA X3000 has a higher fill rate, and faster pixel shader from the 3DMark results you've posted. It is very possible that the very primitive Windows Experience Index benchmarker might be only testing the areas in which the GMA X3000 is better than the X600, and ignoring the areas in which the X600 beats the X3000.

          Have you ran a real world benchmark, such the ones that come with games? That should give you a better idea of how much faster the X600 is, at least better than using WEi or even 3DMark.

              These are the gaming benchmarks I see used all the time:

              * Call of Duty 4
              * Company of Heroes
              * Far Cry 2
              * Crysis

              Do a Google search to find out how to benchmark using these tools, but some like Company of Heroes, have the benchmark built right into the graphics settings page.

              If you don't have any of these games, then you can download the Crysis single player demo, which has benchmarking capabilities.
