I just got in the middle of this. Before the bios was updated there was no problems with the computer. The POST was also fine. Now after updating the BIOS due to WOW(World of Warcraft). The computer is coming up with an system memory error. I am not there so I do not know what type of error it is. Then the called HP, HP could not figure out the problem. So they requested a older version of the BIOS, But HP have told them that there is no possible way to reflash the BIOS(yaeh right). Now that told them to clear the CMOS with the pin jumper for the BIOS battery. Now you can't get in to the bios they are locked out. The motherboard is an Asus P5LP-LE Leonite. I have searched every where I can think of to find an older BIOS version to no avail. The HP techs have screwed the pooch by having them clear the BIOS. I had them get in to the Bios and them load the defaults, but this did not fix the problem. One other thought they also tried to up date the intel chip set(I945 P/G) and it would not allow the update. My thought is that the problem is the Bios update has an issue or may be corrupted?

Yes I know that was not done, if I was doing it I away save a copy of the old BIOS first. Then do the BIOS upgrade. I called HP and they are telling me that you can't load a older BIOS version back. I told the phone tech to put me through to his supervisor after telling him that he is retarded. The supervisor tried to tell me the same thing. I asked him then do you really think that I am that stupid, then hung up the phone. I found out later that they paid $60 support fee. I told them to stop payment of the charge that they just made the problem worse. I will have to make a trip over there and reload the Bios that atifsh uploaded and use winflash that chewy uploaded. Thanks Guys. BTW it can't be any worse then it is now.Last edited by doctorhardware; 10 Aug 2009, 03:10 PM.Star Baby Girl, Born March,1997 Died June 30th 2007 6:35 PM.Comment

Well I have gotten some more info, the version of bios that was used was 5.23. So I am not sure if the bios upgrade is what is causing the memory issue. There was not any memory issues before the upgrade. I guess I have to get there and see what the real issue is, getting the info second hand is not helping the problem.Star Baby Girl, Born March,1997 Died June 30th 2007 6:35 PM.Comment

Yes it was used and until the bios upgrade it was used to play world of warcraft. Now when trying to download the WOW patches it has memory issues and now it will not allow the patch to download. It will on occasion it will blue screen during the download, or it will give a random memory error.Star Baby Girl, Born March,1997 Died June 30th 2007 6:35 PM.Comment

That is what I planned on doing but I was going to load the bios defaults first then reflash the bios. I am waiting for the temps to cool off here it has been in the middle 90s here and extremely humid. The new place does not have ac so I am taking it easy.Star Baby Girl, Born March,1997 Died June 30th 2007 6:35 PM.Comment

The computer is now running better then ever it did before. I pulled the memory out and put it in a test machine I have. After about 20 minutes of running a burn in memory test the memory failed. I had him run to best buy and pick up 4 gigs of memory. It is now running apps much faster now, and no more memory errors.Star Baby Girl, Born March,1997 Died June 30th 2007 6:35 PM.Comment
