Windows Vista Basic Update

Hi All,

Hope you can help my brothers laptop seems to have down loaded
updates to windows vista basic although the computer restarts it freezes at 1 of 3 updates 0% on boot up then restarts. I have tried restarting in safe mode with the same result. Also tried booting using the disk supplied this just ask me to reinstall windows vista would rather install window 7 if this is the final option.

How can i bypass the udate and start windows i think the download for the update is corrupt. any help greatly received. Maybe able to post more info tomorrow as not really looked to hard at this issue yet. The laptop in quetion is a Dell inspirion 1545.

One of the updates but this was only for xp it was causing BSOD, after the updates were installed. So it may apply to vista. The cause of the BSOD was the computers had spyware and rootkit crap on them. I would change the boot up list and put the CD/DVD drive first and you might be able to do a repair using the recovery disks. If not then just do a complete restore.

Thanks for the reply now i've had a chance to look at this it was a simple case of using the OEM disk and accessing the restore point facility and used a restore point prior to the lastest updates and then restart.

Seems to be running stable which will do as didn't want to mess around installing fom scratch fingers crossed!

I don't use vista. Like windows 7, guess you can do much of tweaking in your windows update. you just need to play it more.
