Hi,
I'm currently working on a friends laptop and it had a 1000+ virus on it as they had nothing they wanted they said to install a fresh copy of xp pro on the machine.
Unfortunately i only managed to get the internal DVD drive to read one disc once so i created a bootable install using a usb flash drive. After running through the copy files in windows setup (which took 2+ hrs due to only having usb 1 connection) the computer restarted and then displays the error message corrupt/missing hal.dll.
How can i overcome this my friend will be purchasing a external dvd drive to use but at present i do not have access to one and not sure when he will be getting the drive.
