I have a 15GB memory stick and I want to use it to back-up data from my Xbox 360. What should I format my memory stick under for my Xbox 360 to understand it. I first tried under FAT and it never worked. I also have the black and smaller Xbox 360.

Do it under your Xbox 360, make sure you move any files that you want to keep, but you can actually move the files back to the stick afterwards, since the drive does show up under Windows and is usable (there's a folder on there in which the Xbox 360 files are stored). -
I think you will be able to make backups (it's just a series of files called Data0000, Data0001 ... in an hidden folder called "Xbox360" on the FAT32 formatted USB drive, so you can just copy them to a safe place - they're quite large though, 3.5 GB in size even though I've only really got one game save on it).
And if the drive, for whatever reason, stops getting recognized by the Xbox 360, once tip I've seen is to copy all these files off the USB drive, wipe the drive and reformat it on the Xbox 360, and then copy all the files except Data0000 back to the USB drive, and everything should be fine again. So I guess the same method can be used for backups and restore too.Comment

Thanks for the info. I managed to get things working to back-up on my memory stick. The problem is, I want to back-up to my PC so that I can use my memory stick for other things but my memory stick loads up in my PC as an empty memory stick where all the data is hidden. Is there any software that can show the data so that I don't have to pay another £15.99 on another memory stick?

So you can't see the "Xbox360" folder? Have you changed your Windows explorer settings to show hidden files and folders? Try that, and it should appear.Comment
