DVD+R DL to play in BD Player

I just bought a Samsung bluray player BD E5900 and when I put a Verbatim DVD+R DL in it it tells me it isn't compatible. I did bitset the DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM for compatibility reasons. It plays fine in my DVD player and it is clean, no damage. It won't play in my blu ray player. Is there somthing I can d in the future with ImgBurn so these DL disks will play in my Samsung BD E5900? Is there any way to make the player think it is DVD-Video?
