It is one thing to have broadband but when the ISP provider limits your speed based on the "bundle" purchased, then it is not true broadband.
Where I live, you only have 2 choices for the consumer. Cable (TV) or the telephone company. After doing some research, the telephone company allows bigger bandwidth to the consumer than the cable company.
The cable company "steps" on large downloads down by limiting them to 2 KB/sec while the phone company does not. But either company have the same problems from 3 to 5 PM. Too many users because businesses are still open and the school kids are out.Gary D

In my area Verizon is running the fiber optic cable for internet access which should at a minimum double the present bandwidth of our cable company Comcast standard package for broadband of 6MB down and 768K up. Comcast in the past has raised the bandwidth of the standard package for no price increase when Verizon has done this in the past. So things should be getting interesting in my area. Not registered Go here and click register to join the Digital Digest Forums

There are also several actors in the market and in the past they burried more cable than there was real need for - so there is an overcapacity in some areas and that has cut the prices to the consumers down to a very attractive level.Last edited by cynthia; 13 Jun 2007, 12:00 PM.Comment
