Samsung could face class action suit over HD DVD, Blu-ray combo-player BD-UP5000

Samsung's ultimate high-def disc player, BD-UP5000 is coming up short and disappointing customers. Many are even talking about a class action lawsuit against Samsung!

A bit of a sensational headline, but the BD-UP5000 isn't a very good player, which is why Samsung has already introduced the BD-UP5500 less than 12 months after the 5000. Wait for the 6500, rumoured to be Profile 2.0 compatible and comes with Reon HQV.

maybe there's hope for the competing format after all?

the smartest thing to do is pass on all this for now and wait for technology to mature

I would not hold my breath for a firmware update for this player to come by May 08.

From my experience Samsung firmware updates are very slow in forthcoming. I don't think Samsung can make up their mind on how they want to do firmware updates, By CD-R disk or by flash drive.

Their firmware update page at their website is also extremely slow in coming up.

I do like Samsung products ,but I believe some employees from SONY have gone to work for Samsung including some top executives. Maybe Samsung will hire some EX Disney employee's next.
