Microsoft says 'no' to Xbox Blu-ray
When asked if Microsoft plans to release a Blu-ray drive in light of the demise of HD-DVD, Microsoft's corporate vice president of live, software and services said 'no' while implying that add-on drives don't appear to work for Xbox 360 gamers, pointing out that its HD-DVD drive only enjoyed a 3% attach rate. -

Microsoft has officially announced no more HD DVD add-on drives will be produced, which is not surprising because Toshiba makes these drives and Toshiba has already stopped production:
People here in Australia are now able to pick up the drive for about $USD 35 from various online stores. If people really wanted a backup player for the main HD DVD player, then this drive is it (especially if they have a Xbox 360, or even if they don't, it will work on a PC). Remember that you get King Kong HD DVD in the box, plus the much better media remote for the 360 - the remote itself is worth the price for 360 owners. These drives are, not surprisingly, selling like hot cakes and will probably be sold out in a day or two.Comment
