Top 10:
New releases were available in quantity, if not quality, for the week ending 12th January 2013. Dredd was the week's best selling new release, and marks the first new release title (ie. not a catalogue release) that was available exclusively as a 3D title on the Blu-ray format - there were no 2D Blu-ray versions of the movie.
Dredd only managed to beat second placed Frankenweenie by a small margin though.
Two more new releases were in the Blu-ray top 10. House at the End of the Street managed a 4th place finish, while Hit & Run debuted at 7th.
A couple of other new releases didn't make the Blu-ray top 10. SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden came in at 12th, while Stolen flopped to a 13th place finish.
Bringing up the rear (phrasing!) was Archer: The Complete Season Three, splooshing in at 17th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD charts, but did not sell enough copies on Blu-ray to make it into the Blu-ray only top 20, falling out into the Danger Zone (OK, I'll stop now).
The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
Blu-ray Share:
Of all the new releases, Hit & Run actually had the best BD sales share result, with Blu-ray or combo copies of the film grabbing a 53.39% share of all disc based sales.
Dredd was next best, at 47.99%, but as mentioned earlier, all BD copies of the film included the Blu-ray 3D version, and so its Blu-ray 3D share was 100%. Frankenweenie wasn't too far behind at 47.50%, and it was also available on Blu-ray 3D, but with only a 14% sales share.
As for the rest, House at the End of the Street managed 32%, Archer: The Complete Season Three had 26%, Stolen with 25% and SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden had 21%.
