    Stats:

For the week ending 14th February 2015, here are the stats:

    Percentage of revenue:
    Blu-ray vs DVD: 29.45% vs 70.55%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $38.06 million
DVD sales total spending: $91.16 million

    These stats available from here:

    Home Media Magazine

    Top 10:

Blu-ray revenue edged up again, although weekly Blu-ray market share dropped slightly thanks to this week's top selling movie doing better on DVD than on Blu-ray.

That top selling movie on Blu-ray and DVD combined was not the top selling Blu-ray title of the week, which belonged to the Blu-ray exclusive release of 101 Dalmatians. This "Diamond Edition" release from Disney is counted as a Blu-ray exclusive as the there was no DVD-only pack available for sale for this re-release.

In second place (but as mentioned, the overall top selling on disc for the week) was Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. It was easily the top selling title when counting both Blu-ray and DVD sales, but was outsold by '101 Dalmatians' by almost a 3-to-1 margin on Blu-ray.

For the other releases, Nightcrawler was in 5th, while Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League sneaked in at 10th.

Outside of the top 10, Kill the Messenger was in 19th.

'Addicted', which finished 8th on the combined chart, was not available on Blu-ray.

So the one Blu-ray exclusive explains the higher Blu-ray revenue, while the DVD performance of the week's actual top disc seller explains the lower Blu-ray market share.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
    1. *101 Dalmatians
    2. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
    3. John Wick
    4. Dracula Untold
    5. Nightcrawler
    6. Fury
    7. Lucy
    8. The Best of Me
    9. The Book of Life
    10. Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League

    Blu-ray Sales Share:

BD sales share for a title is the percentage of disc packages sold for this movie that contained the Blu-ray edition of the film (including combos). So a BD sales share of 60% indicates that 60% of disc packages sold for this particular film contained the Blu-ray edition for this film.

Out of the week's top selling new releases, 'Nightcrawler' had the best BD sales share with 53.42% - it was also the only new release that did better on Blu-ray than on DVD (other than '101 Dalmatians' of course, which is a Blu-ray exclusive and so has a BD sales share of 100%).

'Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League' was the next best at 42.55%. 'Kill the Messenger' managed 40.59%.

The week's top selling disc was 'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day', which only managed a BD sales share of 26%.

None of these week's new releases were available on Blu-ray 3D.

Only rising weekly Blu-ray market share prevents this week from being an "all red" one, as last year's 'The Jungle Book' and 'Ender's Game' combined to be bigger sellers, on both Blu-ray and DVD, than this week's '101 Dalmatians' and 'Alexander and the ...'

Blu-ray sales decreased by $5.61m (down 12.9%), while DVD sales decreased by $20.97m (down 18.7%) producing $26.58 million less in combined revenue.

Blu-ray's market share increased from 28.03% to 29.45%.

      Stats:

For the week ending 21st February 2015, here are the stats:

      Percentage of revenue:
      Blu-ray vs DVD: 32.00% vs 68.00%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $38.61 million
DVD sales total spending: $82.04 million

      Top 10:

A whole slew of new releases arrives this week allowing Blu-ray revenue to post a small rise, and with DVD revenue dropping, weekly Blu-ray market share was up as well.

Game of Thrones: The Complete Fourth Season was the week't top seller. It did particularly well on Blu-ray compared to DVD, not just for a TV series box set, but up there with the best of A-list releases.

In a somewhat distant second place was Dumb and Dumber To, which did better on Blu-ray and DVD than the controversial (at least in North Korea) The Interview in 3rd place.

Best Picture Oscar winner Birdman finished in 5th place (Oscar winners are not necessarily best sellers, and in fact are usually not).

In 7th place was another new release, St. Vincent, and rounding off the top 10 in 10th place was The Theory of Everything.

Outside of the top 20, you have to go all the way down to 19th and 20th to find the next new releases, Dying of the Light and The Homesman.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
      1. Game of Thrones: The Complete Fourth Season
      2. Dumb and Dumber To

      5. Birdman

So a BD sales share of 60% indicates that 60% of disc packages sold for this particular film contained the Blu-ray edition for this film, and so anything over 50% means that the Blu-ray version of the film was more popular than the DVD version.

As mentioned earlier, 'Game of Thrones: The Complete Fourth Season' did great on Blu-ray, with a BD sales share of 53.80%

The only other new release this week to break through the 50% barrier was 'Birdman' with 52.75%.

'The Theory of Everything' managed 45.61%, 'Dumb and Dumber To' got 41.22%, just (and I mean just) edging out 'The Interview' with 41.21%.

Outside of the BD sales share top 20, we have 'St. Vincent', 'Dying of the Light' and 'The Homesman', which respectively got 28%, 22% and 19%.

None of these week's new releases were available on Blu-ray 3D.

For the week ending 28th February 2015, here are the stats:

        Percentage of revenue:
        Blu-ray vs DVD: 37.19% vs 62.81%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $56.32 million

        Top 10:

Blu-ray revenue and market share rose to their highest levels in 2015, with market share in particularly at an impressive high, highest since March 2014.

The reason for the boost in weekly results is all down to one A-list release, Big Hero 6.

The next best selling new release was Horrible Bosses 2 in 5th place. In 8th place was Sons of Anarchy: The Final Season, followed by Whiplash in 9th place.

Outside of the top 10, we have Beyond the Lights and Dragonheart 3: The Sorcerer's Curse in 19th and 20th place.

But it was Big Hero 6 that was the real big hero for the week.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
        1. Big Hero 6
        2. Game of Thrones: The Complete Fourth Season
        3. Birdman
        4. The Interview
        5. Horrible Bosses 2

        7. Dumb and Dumber To

Part of the reason for the high weekly Blu-ray market share figure was also largely down to 'Big Hero 6' and its BD sales share of 58.16%. 'Whiplash' wasn't too far behind at 55.34%.

'Dragonheart 3: The Sorcerer's Curse' managed 30% and 'Sons of Anarchy: The Final Season' was at 22%. Both 'Horrible Bosses 2' and 'Beyond the Lights' were at 18%.

None of these week's new releases were available on Blu-ray 3D.

        DVD: $98.31 million
Despite the week's good results, only this week's high weekly market share figure helped to prevent an 'all red' week, as 'Big Hero 6' was a slightly lesser release than 'Thor: The Dark World' from this week last year.

Blu-ray sales decreased slightly by $0.77m (down 1.4%), while DVD sales decreased by $3.2m (down 3.3%) producing $3.97 million less in combined revenue.

          Stats:

For the week ending 7th March 2015, here are the stats:

          Percentage of revenue:
          Blu-ray vs DVD: 34.53% vs 65.47%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $48.29 million
DVD sales total spending: $91.54 million

          These stats available from here:

          Home Media Magazine

          Top 10:

Another A-list release, one that's even bigger than last week's 'Big Hero 6' at the box office, but this one failed to make as big of a mark on Blu-ray and DVD. This meant that despite the disc release of a movie that took over $300 million at the box office, Blu-ray and DVD revenue, as well as Blu-ray market share, actually dropped compared to last week.

The big release was The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1. The commercial decision to split the last Hunger Games book into two films seems to have been felt more heavily with respect to disc sales, as buyers appears to have deliberately chosen to skip this film on disc, perhaps waiting to buy the inevitable "part 1 and part 2 dual movie pack", to be available around the same time next year (the poor critical reception of the film may also have something to do with it). As a comparison, 'Catching Fire', when it was released the same week last March, helped Blu-ray revenue reach nearly $60 million, with DVD revenue going above $100 million, to make that week the highest selling week for 2014 up to that time.

That it failed to help this week beat last week, despite 'Mockingjay - Pt 1' doing $100 million more at the box office than last week's 'Big Hero 6', probably has to do with the relatively short number of days between the release of the latest Hunger Games movie and the end of the reporting week (released 6th March, so only one release day included in these numbers - the same was true of 'Catching Fire' for last year) - although most sales do occur on the first day of release due to pre-orders.

There were quite a few other new releases too, but none were too outstanding. The best of the rest was Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast, coming in at 3rd place.

Outlander: Season 1 Vol. 1 came in at 5th, with Foxcatcher in 8th.

Barbie in Princess Power did very well on DVD, coming in at 4th place on the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart, but did very poorly on Blu-ray and failed to make even the top 20. The Captive, 16th on the combined chart, also failed to make the Blu-ray top 20 on account of poor sales on the HD disc format.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
          1. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1
          2. Big Hero 6
          3. Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast
          4. Horrible Bosses 2
          5. Outlander: Season 1 Vol. 1
          6. Game of Thrones: The Complete Fourth Season
          7. *101 Dalmatians
          8. Foxcatcher

'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' also topped the BD sales chart with a BD sales chart of 52.79%.

'Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast' did well too with 42.76%, a good result for a direct to TV kids title such as this one.

'Foxcatcher' managed 42.10%, while 'Outlander: Season 1 Vol. 1' managed 38.29%.

'The Captive' and 'Barbie in Princess Power' both failed to make the BD sales top 20 chart, with BD sales shares of 22% and 13%.

None of these week's new releases were available on Blu-ray 3D.

            Top 10:

The couple of new releases this week could not compare to last week's 'Hunger Games' release, and so Blu-ray revenue and weekly market share dropped as a result.

'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1' was still this week's top selling title, relegating Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb to a distant number two place.

The re-release of 'Sound of Music' in a 50th Anniversary Edition helped the classic reach 5th on the Blu-ray sales charts.

And that was it for new releases in the top 10. Outside of the top 10, The Legend of Korra: Book Four - Balance came closest to breaking through, at 11th. The Flintstones and WWE: Stone Age Smackdown! and Russell Madness, despite coming in at 8th and 11th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart, failed to make the Blu-ray top 20.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
            1. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

Of this week's new releases, unsurprisingly 'The Sound of Music' had the best BD sales share of 45.06%. This, however, was surprisingly low for a re-release - perhaps those (like me) that had purchased the 45th Anniversary Edition just weren't interested in double-dipping again on Blu-ray.

'Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb' managed 41.03%, while 'The Legend of Korra: Book Four - Balance' managed 32.17%.

'Russell Madness' got 15% and 'The Flintstones and WWE: Stone Age Smackdown!' managed 12%.

None of these week's new releases were available on Blu-ray 3D.

              Stats:

For the week ending 21st March 2015, here are the stats:

              Percentage of revenue:
              Blu-ray vs DVD: 31.74% vs 68.26%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $35.58 million

              Top 10:

A couple of new releases this week, but the slide in DVD and Blu-ray revenue, and weekly Blu-ray market share, continues.

Penguins of Madagascar was the week's top seller on Blu-ray, slightly ahead of Exodus: Gods and Kings in second place.

The 2014 remake of Annie was slightly further behind in 3rd place.

We have to then go all the way to 7th to find the next new release, Halo: Nightfall, which was also the only other new release in the top 10.

Outside of the top 10, we have Top Five in 12th, Song of the Sea in 15th and Vice in 18th.

So some releases, but still a pretty average week in terms of quality and quantity.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
              1. Penguins of Madagascar
              2. Exodus: Gods and Kings
              3. Annie (2014)
              4. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1
              5. Big Hero 6
              6. Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb
              7. Halo: Nightfall
              8. Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast
              9. The Sound of Music: 50th Anniversary Edition
              10. *101 Dalmatians

BD sales share for a title is the percentage of disc packages sold for this movie that contained the Blu-ray edition of the film (including combos). So a BD sales share of 60% indicates that 60% of disc packages sold for this particular film contained the Blu-ray edition for this film, and so anything over 50% means that the Blu-ray version of the film was more popular than the DVD version.

'Penguins of Madagascar' had a BD sales share of 57.13% and topped the BD sales share chart for this week.

Despite not ranking in the combined Blu-ray and DVD top 20, 'Song of the Sea' had the second best BD sales share for the week, with 51.76%.

'Exodus: Gods and Kings' also managed to go above the magical 50% mark for the week, with 50.41%.

For the rest of the new releases, 'Annie (2014)' managed 39.62%; 'Halo: Nightfall' got 37.22%; and 'Top Five' and 'Vice' managed 29% and 25% respectively.

Something different this week, both of the top two selling titles had Blu-ray 3D editions. 'Exodus: Gods and Kings' had a BD3D sales share of 12.04%, and 'Penguins of Madagascar' managed 4.18%.

An "all red" week this week, but one that was never avoidable. The reason? This time last year was when the all time Blu-ray best seller 'Frozen' was released. Enough said!

Blu-ray sales decreased by $66.4m (down 65.1%), while DVD sales decreased by $63.4m (down 45.3%) producing a massive $129.8 million less in combined revenue.

                Stats:

For the week ending 28th March 2015, here are the stats:

                Percentage of revenue:
                Blu-ray vs DVD: 37.44% vs 62.56%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $54.36 million
DVD sales total spending: $90.83 million

                Top 10:

All top 3 titles this week were new releases, but it was one major release, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, that helped Blu-ray revenue rise to recent highs. The trilogy box set for The Hobbit also sold in sufficient numbers to get into the top 10, at 10th.

In a distant second place was Into the Woods, which sold more copies than this week's third best selling new release, Unbroken.

Failing to make the Blu-ray top 20, but managing to rank 11th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart was Monster High: Haunted.

So not a significant number of new releases, but one significant release, and a few other notables, helped Blu-ray revenue go above $50 million for the week.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                1. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
                2. Into the Woods
                3. Unbroken
                4. Penguins of Madagascar
                5. Big Hero 6
                6. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1
                7. Exodus: Gods and Kings
                8. Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb
                9. Annie (2014)
                10. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

                Blu-ray Sales Share:

BD sales share for a title is the percentage of disc packages sold for this movie that contained the Blu-ray edition of the film (including combos). So a BD sales share of 60% indicates that 60% of disc packages sold for this particular film contained the Blu-ray edition for this film, and so anything over 50% means that the Blu-ray version of the film was more popular than the DVD version.

The two 'Hobbit' titles in the top 10 had the best BD sales share for the week. 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' was the better of the two releases, with a BD sales share of 54.42%. 'The Hobbit: The Motion Picture Trilogy' managed 53.13%.

The next best title in terms of BD sales share was 'Unbroken', with 43.98%.

'Into the Woods' managed 38.21%, which leaves 'Monster High: Haunted' with only 13%.

As for 3D Blu-ray releases, both of the new 'Hobbit' releases were available on Blu-ray 3D, with 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' having a 3DBD sales share of 10.60%. The 3D version of the trilogy box set managed 5.51%.

                  Stats:

For the week ending 4th April 2015, here are the stats:

                  Percentage of revenue:
                  Blu-ray vs DVD: 33.96% vs 66.04%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $51.05 million
DVD sales total spending: $99.28 million

                  These stats available from here:

                  Home Media Magazine

                  Top 10:

DVD revenue rose while Blu-ray revenue dropped compared to last week, meaning that weekly Blu-ray market share actually dropped compared to last week. This is actually quite strange at first glance, as this week's top selling release did fantastically on Blu-ray, but when you include the fact that this week was the usual "pre-Easter sales bump" (where bargain buys dominate, which meant better than normal DVD results).

That release was Interstellar, which had a huge BD sales share (more on that later), meaning relatively few people purchased the DVD-only edition of the film. This usually helps to boost weekly Blu-ray market share, but it just didn't happen this week.

There weren't many other new releases this week, but the next most notable one was The Imitation Game in 6th place.

The other new releases did not make the Blu-ray top 10. Wild managed to get as high as 13th (11th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart), while Wild Card (no relations) was 16th (14th on the combined chart).

Comparing the 2014 pre-Easter to this year's, Blu-ray revenue fell from around $53 million to $51 million, while DVD revenue had a much bigger fall, from nearly $123 million to less than $100 million. As a result, Blu-ray market share rose to nearly 34%, compared to 30% for last Easter. The caliber of recent releases do help to determine weekly results, but the pre-Easter of 2014 had nothing like 'Interstellar' to bump up sales, and so this year's results appears to be even worse than what it is.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                  1. Interstellar
                  2. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
                  3. Big Hero 6
                  4. Penguins of Madagascar
                  5. Into the Woods
                  6. The Imitation Game
                  7. Unbroken
                  8. Exodus: Gods and Kings
                  9. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1
                  10. Annie (2014)

As mentioned earlier, 'Interstellar' had an amazing BD sales share result of 69.89%, making it the top ranked title in terms of BD sales share for the week.

                  'The Imitation Game' managed 44.98%.

'Wild' and 'Wild Card' managed 29% and 24%.

None of these week's top ranking new releases were available on Blu-ray 3D.

                    Stats:

For the week ending 11th April 2015, here are the stats:

                    Percentage of revenue:
                    Blu-ray vs DVD: 28.92% vs 71.08%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $23.97 million
DVD sales total spending: $58.91 million

                    These stats available from here:

                    Home Media Magazine

                    Top 10:

The post Easter lull is upon us, and we have zero new releases, not just in the Blu-ray top 10, but also in the combined Blu-ray and DVD top 20.

There was actually just one new release in the Blu-ray top 20, and that was A Most Violent Year all the way down in 13th.

With no new releases to talk about, the only thing left is to compare this year to last year's lull, and the terrible trend of falling revenue continues.

While the fall was only slightly, Blu-ray revenue fell from just above $24 million to just below, with DVD revenue seeing a bigger fall of around $6 million. That's the second year in a row that Blu-ray revenue has fell year-on-year.

Another unwanted record was broken this week, with DVD revenue hitting the lowest recorded mark on record since we started keeping track in 2010 - DVD weekly revenue at that time was at a now unthinkable $222 million (although to be fair, that was during the holidays).

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                    1. Interstellar
                    2. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
                    3. Big Hero 6
                    4. Into the Woods
                    5. Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season
                    6. Unbroken
                    7. Exodus: Gods and Kings
                    8. The Imitation Game
                    9. Wild
                    10. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

                    Blu-ray Sales Share:

BD sales share for a title is the percentage of disc packages sold for this movie that contained the Blu-ray edition of the film (including combos). Only one new releases, and 'A Most Violent Year' managed 37.93%. It wasn't available on Blu-ray 3D. 'Interstellar' was still the week's top title in terms of BD sales share, although dropping from last week's high of nearly 70% to 58.91%.

Another unfair comparison this week, comparing the week that saw 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' released with the post Easter lull that had basically no notable new releases. An 'all red' week was, therefore, not a surprise.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $30.82m (down 56.2%), while DVD sales decreased by $34.6m (down 37%) producing $65.42 million less in combined revenue.

                      Top 10:

A couple of new releases could not prevent weekly Blu-ray revenue from falling to its lowest level in 2015, and for DVD revenue to continue to slide, again breaking the record for the lowest amount recorded since 2010.

The week's top seller on Blu-ray was indeed a new release. Batman vs. Robin outsold recent favourites 'Interstellar'.

The next new release was in 5th place, The Babadook, followed by The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death in 9th.

Two other new releases were available this week, but they failed to make the top 10. Big Eyes and The Man With the Iron Fists 2 got as high as 12th and 13th respectively.

The original trilogy 'Star Wars' Blu-ray pack comes back into the top 10, perhaps off the popularity of the newly released teaser 2 for episode 7.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                      1. Batman vs. Robin

                      9. The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death

'The Man With the Iron Fists 2' managed 37.88%, and 'The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death' and 'Big Eyes' managed 28% and 27% respectively.

None of the top selling new releases this week were available on Blu-ray 3D.

I think, there is a slight mismatch, this value was decreased from 30.29% to 28.86%

                        Thanks for the great job

                            Stats:

For the week ending 25th April 2015, here are the stats:

                            Percentage of revenue:
                            Blu-ray vs DVD: 28.35% vs 71.65%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $22.80 million
DVD sales total spending: $57.62 million

                            These stats available from here:

                            Top 10:

Slightly improvement on last week's horror numbers, as Blu-ray revenue move off last week's 2015 lows, and DVD revenue improves slightly on last week's all time lows.

One possible reason for the slight improvement might be this week's top selling new release and overall top seller, Taken 3. It easily outsold 'Interstellar' in second place.

That was it for new releases in the Blu-ray top 10 though, and it's all the way down to 18th for the next new release, Everly.

The Marine 4: Moving Target actually sold in good numbers on DVD, but not on Blu-ray, meaning it climbed as high as 5th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD charts, but failed to get into the Blu-ray only top 20.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                            1. Taken 3
                            2. Interstellar
                            3. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
                            4. Big Hero 6
                            5. Batman vs. Robin
                            6. Star Wars: The Original Trilogy
                            7. Into the Woods
                            8. Unbroken
                            9. Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy
                            10. Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season

'Taken 3' had a BD sales share of 36.66%, which is fairly average (or poor even) for a typical new release. Not that the next two top ranked new releases did any better, 'Everly' with 23% and 'The Marine 4: Moving Target' with only 16% (explains it's lack of an appearance in the Blu-ray top 20 chart).

Another week with no notable Blu-ray 3D releases.

For the week ending 2nd May 2015, here are the stats:

                              Percentage of revenue:
                              Blu-ray vs DVD: 27.86% vs 72.14%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $22.11 million
DVD sales total spending: $57.24 million

                              Top 10:

Both Blu-ray and DVD revenue dropped a little compared to last week, despite the availability of more new releases this week.

The best selling title of the week was a new release, and it was Paddington, which outsold last week's number one, 'Taken 3', quite comfortably.

The next best selling new release was The Wedding Ringer in 3rd place, which only just managed to scrape past The Gambler in 4th place.

The Boy Next Door was closely behind in 5th, with Inherent Vice a little further behind in 8th place.

Outside of the top 10, The Barber managed to just get in, at 20th place.

So more new releases this week than the last, but revenue is down, and so is Blu-ray market share. The caliber of new releases obviously had a big hand in this week's results.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                              1. Paddington
                              2. Taken 3
                              3. The Wedding Ringer
                              4. The Gambler
                              5. The Boy Next Door
                              6. Interstellar
                              7. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
                              8. Inherent Vice
                              9. Big Hero 6
                              10. Star Wars: The Original Trilogy

                              Blu-ray Sales Share:

BD sales share for a title is the percentage of disc packages sold for this movie that contained the Blu-ray edition of the film (including combos). Despite being at the bottom of the Blu-ray top 20 chart, 'The Barber' actually had the best BD sales share out of the new releases this week, with 47.72%. It was ahead of 'Inherent Vice', 'The Gambler' and 'Paddington', at 45.76%, 44.54% and 43.96% respectively.

'The Wedding Ringer' managed 38.64%, while 'The Boy Next Door' got 31%.

Another week with no new notable Blu-ray 3D releases.

                                Top 10:

Blu-ray revenue and market share bounced back in a big way this week thanks largely to just one new release: Fifty Shades of Grey. It easily outsold the second placed 'Paddington', last week's number one, by more than a ten-to-one margin.

In third place was another new release, Selma.

Black or White was the next best selling new release, in 6th place.

Outside of the top 10, Mad Max: Collector's Edition was a new Blu-ray exclusive release, coinciding with the theatrical release of the new Mad Max film - it finished in 13th.

In 15th place was the last new release in the top 20, Black Sea.

But it was really 'Fifty Shades' that helped the Blu-ray sales results bounce back.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                                1. Fifty Shades of Grey
                                2. Paddington
                                3. Selma
                                4. Taken 3
                                5. Interstellar
                                6. Black or White
                                7. The Gambler
                                8. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
                                9. The Wedding Ringer
                                10. The Boy Next Door

                                Blu-ray Sales Share:

BD sales share for a title is the percentage of disc packages sold for this movie that contained the Blu-ray edition of the film (including combos). 'Fifty Shades of Grey' did quite well on Blu-ray, breaking through the 50% BD sales share market with 56.90%. It was the only new release this week that managed to do this, with 'Black Sea' being the next best at '39.25%'.

'Selma' managed 33.95%, while the 17% earned by 'Black or White' explains why it finished 4th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD charts, but only 6th on the Blu-ray chart.

Another week with no new notable Blu-ray 3D releases.
