    Stats:

For the week ending July 30th 2016, here are the stats:

    Percentage of revenue:
    Blu-ray vs DVD: 34.64% vs 65.36%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $26.74 million
DVD sales total spending: $50.45 million

    These stats available from here:

    Home Media Magazine

    Top 10:

'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' was still this week's top seller, which indicates pretty clearly that none of this week's new releases were big names.

The Boss was the week's best selling new release, coming in at 2nd place. Third place was also occupied by a new release, Criminal.

Going down to 5th place, we have Hardcore Henry, which was followed by Barbershop: The Next Cut in 7th place.

I Am Wrath down in 15th place rounded out the new releases in the top 20.

So a relatively quiet week in terms of new releases, which translated to a rather large fall in Blu-ray revenue compared to the previous week.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
    1. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice+
    2. The Boss
    3. Criminal+
    4. Allegiant+
    5. Hardcore Henry
    6. Zootopia
    7. Barbershop: The Next Cut
    8. London Has Fallen
    9. Deadpool+
    10. Kung Fu Panda 3

Blu-ray, Ultra HD Blu-ray Sales Share:

BD sales share for a title is the percentage of disc packages sold for this movie that contained the Blu-ray edition of the film (including combos, and Ultra HD editions). So a BD sales share of 60% indicates that 60% of disc packages sold for this particular film contained the Blu-ray edition for this film, and so anything over 50% means that the Blu-ray version of the film was more popular than the DVD version.

'Hardcore Henry' had the best of the week's BD sales share, with 58.21%. 'The Boss' managed 43.55%, which just beat 'Criminal' which had 41.48%.

'Barbershop: The Next Cut' managed 30%, while 'I Am Wrath' got 25%.

While none of these new releases were available on Blu-ray 3D, a UHD version of 'Criminal' was available, and it attracted a UHD sales share of 3.32%

      Stats:

For the week ending August 6th 2016, here are the stats:

      Percentage of revenue:
      Blu-ray vs DVD: 31.55% vs 68.45%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $23.66 million
DVD sales total spending: $51.34 million

      These stats available from here:

      Top 10:

Both Blu-ray and DVD revenue decline again compared to the previous week.

Batman: The Killing Joke was the top selling new release of the week, and also the week's top Blu-ray seller, managing to beat the other Batman related film, 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'.

Mother's Day was a bit more further behind, in 5th place, with Keanu in 7th place.

Outside of the Blu-ray top 20, but in the combined Blu-ray and DVD top 20, was Traded and Meet the Blacks.

No A-list releases and slowing 'Dawn of Justice' sales means Blu-ray and DVD revenue fell compared to the previous weeks.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
      1. Batman: The Killing Joke
      2. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice+
      3. Zootopia
      4. The Boss
      5. Mother's Day
      6. Allegiant+
      7. Keanu
      8. Criminal+
      9. Deadpool+
      10. The Bourne Classified Collection

'Batman: The Killing Joke' had the best BD sales share out of all the new releases this week with 71.14%.

The next best was 'Keanu' with 37.16%, followed by 'Mother's Day' with 31.52%. 'Traded' and 'Meet the Blacks' got only 8% each, which explains why they didn't get into the Blu-ray top 20.

None of this week's mentioned new releases were available on 3D or UHD Blu-ray.

For the week ending August 13th 2016, here are the stats:

        Percentage of revenue:
        Blu-ray vs DVD: 27.08% vs 72.92%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $17.75 million
DVD sales total spending: $47.80 million

        These stats available from here:

        Home Media Magazine

        Top 10:

A very quiet week, which has resulted in the lowest weekly Blu-ray sales figure since August 2012. There were only two new releases in the top 20, and the best selling of which, Supergirl: The Complete First Season, only managed to finish 8th in any case. The other new release, all the way down in 20th place, was 11.22.63.

There were in fact more new releases in the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart that didn't sell enough copies on Blu-ray to get in to the Blu-ray top 20. These include Scooby-Doo! and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon and A Hologram for the King.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
        1. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice+
        2. Batman: The Killing Joke
        3. Zootopia
        4. The Boss
        5. Allegiant+
        6. Deadpool+
        7. Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens
        8. Supergirl: The Complete First Season
        9. Mother's Day
        10. Kung Fu Panda 3

'Supergirl: The Complete First Season' had a BD sales share of 45.52%. '11.22.63' wasn't too far behind with 41.29%. The other two *were* pretty far behind, with 'A Hologram for the King' managing 19% and 'Scooby-Doo! and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon' only getting 10% - thus explaining why neither titles made the Blu-ray top 20, and why DVD revenue dropped less than Blu-ray revenue this week.

None of this week's mentioned new releases were available on 3D or UHD Blu-ray.

Comparatively higher weekly Blu-ray market share helped to prevent this week from becoming an "all red" week.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $2.15m (down 10.8%), while DVD sales decreased by $11.07m (down 18.8%) producing $13.22 million less in combined revenue.

          Stats:

For the week ending August 20th 2016, here are the stats:

          Percentage of revenue:

          Top 10:

The Angry Birds Movie was the most notable new release of the week, and also the week's top seller, ahead of 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' and also new release God's Not Dead 2.

Then it's all the way down to 12th for the next new release, Gotham: The Complete Second Season. Finally, in 19th, we have Once Upon a Time: The Complete Fifth Season.

Despite the release of 'The Angry Birds Movie', and while Blu-ray revenue improved upon last week's set of results, Blu-ray revenue was still at a relatively low level for the year (which isn't too strange for this time of the year).

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
          1. The Angry Birds Movie+

'The Angry Birds Movie' did well on Blu-ray, gaining a first week BD sales share of 57.11%. It was 'Gotham: The Complete Second Season' that had the second best BD sales share of this week's notable new releases, with 39.19%. 'God's Not Dead 2' was not further behind with 38.84%.

'Once Upon a Time: The Complete Fifth Season' managed 24%.

'The Angry Birds Movie' was available on both Blu-ray 3D and Ultra HD Blu-ray, with 3.45% for both formats individually.

            Home Media Magazine

            Top 10:

Quite a lot of new releases this week, and it helped Blu-ray and DVD revenue rise slightly compared to last week. At the top of the sales charts, and also the week's best selling new release, was The Huntsman: Winter's War.

The next new release, The Walking Dead: The Complete Sixth Season was in 4th place. The next two places were also occupied by new releases, The Nice Guys in 5th and Ash vs. Evil Dead: The Complete First Season in 6th.

The new releases continue in 8th place with Ratchet & Clank, Clown in 12th and The Duel in 15th.

Then in 17th and 19th place we have DC's Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete First Season and Roots (2016).

So a lot of new releases, but none were what you would call an A-list release, and so Blu-ray revenue didn't rise as much as you might expect.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
            1. The Huntsman: Winter's War+
            2. The Angry Birds Movie
            3. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice+
            4. The Walking Dead: The Complete Sixth Season
            5. The Nice Guys
            6. Ash vs. Evil Dead: The Complete First Season
            7. God's Not Dead 2
            8. Ratchet & Clank
            9. Zootopia
            10. Batman: The Killing Joke

Blu-ray, Ultra HD Blu-ray Sales Share:

BD sales share for a title is the percentage of disc packages sold for this movie that contained the Blu-ray edition of the film (including combos, and Ultra HD editions). 'Ash vs. Evil Dead: The Complete First Season' surprisingly had the best BD sales share of the new releases, with 64.48%. 'The Huntsman: Winter's War' also did well on Blu-ray, with 58.56%.

'Ratchet & Clank' managed 54.08% while 'The Nice Guys' was just shy of the 50% mark, with 48.71%. 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete First Season' managed 44.68%.

Bear with me here as we work down the list, but 'The Walking Dead: The Complete Sixth Season' got 42.33% and 'Clown' managed 41.01%.

Finally, 'Roots' got 32% while 'The Duel' got 28%.

            Phew, I don't think I've missed anything.

Of so many new releases, only 'The Huntsman: Winter's War' was available on an additional format, in this case, it came as an Ultra HD Blu-ray as well, and 3.60% of all discs sold contained the UHD copy of the film.

              Top 10:

Both Blu-ray and DVD revenue rose compared to the previous week.

The rise in revenue is most likely attributed to the release of The Jungle Book (2016), which was easily the week's top seller.

The next new release, Me Before You, was in 4th.

Rounding out the top 10 was Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Two, while two more new releases, Arrow: The Complete Fourth Season and Citizen Soldier in 14th and 20th respectively.

'Arrow: The Complete Fourth Season' managed a respectable 42.09%, while 'Me Before You' and 'Citizen Soldier' got 30% and 26%.

Leading the new releases this week is Now You See Me 2, but it did not sell enough copies on Blu-ray to beat last week's number one, 'The Jungle Book'.

With this in mind, I guess you won't be too surprised to find that both Blu-ray and DVD revenue dropped compared to last week's results.

A couple of other new releases were also available, but they also fall into the category of "nothing too special" in terms of box office or popularity. Money Monster got as high as 4th, while the re-release of The Iron Giant (Signature Edition) did very well actually to come in at 7th.

In 9th was the next new release, The Flash: The Complete Second Season.

Outside of the top 10, there is Supernatural: The Complete Eleventh Season in 15th and Hard Target 2 in 17th.

Love & Friendship found a spot on the combined Blu-ray and DVD top 20 at 20th, but failed to get into the Blu-ray top 20.

Also a notable mention to the re-release of Now You See Me on Ultra HD Blu-ray, helping to catapult this older release from 44th last week to 13th this week.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                1. The Jungle Book
                2. Now You See Me 2
                3. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice+
                4. Money Monster
                5. The Huntsman: Winter's War
                6. The Angry Birds Movie
                7. The Iron Giant
                8. Me Before You
                9. The Flash: The Complete Second Season
                10. Zootopia

Re-releases usually do well on Blu-ray, and 'The Iron Giant', also with its low pricing ($10 on Blu-ray at the moment), didn't disappoint with a BD sales share of 84.21%.

The next one is a bit of a surprise, as despite not selling that many copies, 'Hard Target 2' managed 66.34%. 'Now You See Me 2' also got over the 50% mark with 51.33%.

'The Flash: The Complete Second Season' managed 45.73%, with 'Money Monster' on 41.49%.

'Supernatural: The Complete Eleventh Season' only got 20%, just slightly ahead of the 19% for 'Love & Friendship'.

Only 'Now You See Me 2' was available on Ultra HD Blu-ray this week (along with the aforementioned re-release of the first movie in UHD), and it managed a UHDBD sales share of 3.71% (3.21% for the first movie).

                  Percentage of revenue:
                  Blu-ray vs DVD: 43.84% vs 56.16%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $44.22 million
DVD sales total spending: $56.65 million

                  Top 10:

Blu-ray revenue went above $40 million for the first time in a couple of months, and Blu-ray market share rose above 40% as well for the week thanks to the availability of a big release. That big release was Captain America: Civil War, and it outsold the second placed title, 'The Jungle Book', by a factor of more than 16.

The next new release was The Conjuring 2 in third place.

Fifth and sixth were also new releases, The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Ninth Season and The Transformers: The Movie.

Outside of the top 10, there was also Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping in 11th, Aliens 30th Anniversary Edition in 18th, and Godzilla 1984: The Return of Godzilla in 20th.

There were still a couple of more new releases that made the combined DVD and Blu-ray charts, but not the Blu-ray only one. These include Longmire: The Complete Fourth Season, Marauders and Barbie: Star Light Adventure.

Despite the larger number of new releases though, this week's good set of results rested largely on the title occupying the top spot, and 'Civil War' is set to dominate the top 10 for a while.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                  1. Captain America: Civil War
                  2. The Jungle Book
                  3. The Conjuring 2
                  4. Now You See Me 2
                  5. The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Ninth Season
                  6. The Transformers: The Movie
                  7. The Angry Birds Movie
                  8. The Huntsman: Winter's War
                  9. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice+
                  10. Me Before You

'Captain America: Civil War' had the best BD sales of out of the previously mentioned new releases, with 69.73%, just above the 67.92% earned by 'The Transformers: The Movie'.

'Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping' wasn't too far behind either with 66.86%.

The new releases that didn't reach the magical 50% mark includes 'The Conjuring 2' with 40.94%, 'Marauders' with 30%, 'The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Ninth Season' with 29% (the previous season managed 28% when it was released exactly a year ago) and 'Barbie: Star Light Adventure' with 15%.

'Longmire: The Complete Fourth Season' only managed an abysmal 2%.

Despite so many new releases, none had Ultra HD Blu-ray editions, and only one, 'Captain America: Civil War', was available on 3D - but it managed an impressive 3D sales share of 26.81%.

Despite this week's good results, it was almost yet another "all red" week, where both Blu-ray and DVD revenue, and weekly Blu-ray market share are down compared to the same week a year ago. Luckily, this week's Blu-ray market share was slightly higher than last year's, when 'Furious 7' was the big release of the week.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $6.55m (down 12.9%), while DVD sales decreased by $13.03m (down 18.7%) producing $19.58 million less in combined revenue.

                    Stats:

For the week ending September 24th 2016, here are the stats:

                    Percentage of revenue:
                    Blu-ray vs DVD: 42.90% vs 57.10%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $37.95 million

                    These stats available from here:

                    Home Media Magazine

                    Top 10:

Blu-ray and DVD revenue both fell compared to last week's high, but weekly Blu-ray market share still remained above 40% for the week thanks to the release of the Blu-ray exclusive, 25th Anniversary Edition of Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

It wasn't the only big release of the week, with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows not too behind in second place.

Skipping 'Captain America: Civil War' in third place, the next two places were also occupied by new releases, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising in 4th and Free State of Jones in 5th.

Then it's all the way down to 9th for the next new release (and the last new release in the top 20), the 30th anniversary edition of Labyrinth, which wasn't a Blu-ray exclusive.

So some good releases, but nothing on the scale of 'Civil War', but two releases in the top 10 that were both re-releases (and good for Blu-ray typically, if not exclusive to the format) meant that Blu-ray market share remained high, and revenue wasn't too bad either.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                    1. *Beauty and the Beast: 25th Anniversary Signature Edition
                    2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows+
                    3. Captain America: Civil War
                    4. Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising
                    5. Free State of Jones
                    6. The Jungle Book
                    7. The Conjuring 2
                    8. Now You See Me 2
                    9. Labyrinth: 30th Anniversary Edition+
                    10. The Huntsman: Winter's War

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows' had the best BD sales share of this week's new releases (not including 'Beauty and the Beast', which was exclusively available on Blu-ray), with 67.8%. As expected with a re-release, 'Labyrinth' also did well to get 66.22%.

'Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising' also managed to get over the 50% mark with 51.04%. 'Free State of Jones' got 44.75%.

Both ' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows' and 'Labyrinth: 30th Anniversary Edition' were available on Ultra HD Blu-ray as well, with the former also available on 3D. 'Labyrinth' did very well on UHD, with a UHD sales share of 13.65%. TMNT managed a UHD sales share of 7.38%, which was still impressive compared to the 1 or 2% results from earlier in the year, and also compared to the title's 2.39% Blu-ray 3D sales share.

                      Stats:

For the week ending October 1st 2016, here are the stats:

                      Percentage of revenue:
                      Blu-ray vs DVD: 39.30% vs 60.70%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $32.77 million
DVD sales total spending: $50.61 million

                      These stats available from here:

                      Home Media Magazine

                      Top 10:

Warcraft did not do particularly well at the domestic US box office, but it was a huge hit overseas. And on Blu-ray, it was also the week's top selling title, although it did not sell enough copies to rank with other A-list releases.

The next new release was Central Intelligence in third place, and there were three other new releases in the top 20.

In 6th and 7th was The Shallows and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.

All the way down in 18th place was Cell.

Outside of the top 20, but still in the combined Blu-ray and DVD charts were Welcome to Monster High: The Origin Story and Grimm: Season Five.

So a few releases, but without a real A-list release like 'Captain America: Civil War' or a Blu-ray exclusive like last week's 'Beauty and the Beast: 25th Anniversary Signature Edition', Blu-ray revenue and market share both fell compared to recent weeks.

It's also worth noting that all four of the new releases in the Blu-ray top 10 were also available on Ultra HD Blu-ray, suggesting that (at least some) studios are putting in the effort to release titles on the new 4K format, including Sony Pictures. I mention Sony because of their recent decision not to include Ultra HD Blu-ray playback on their updated PS4 Pro - something that's already available on the $100 cheaper Xbox One S console!

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                      1. Warcraft+
                      2. *Beauty and the Beast: 25th Anniversary Signature Edition
                      3. Central Intelligence+
                      4. Captain America: Civil War
                      5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows+
                      6. The Shallows+
                      7. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates+
                      8. The Jungle Book
                      9. Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising
                      10. Free State of Jones

'Warcraft' also led the BD sales share chart, with a very respectable 71.69%. The next best title was 'Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates', but it only had 41%, just ahead of the 40.11% earned by 'The Shallows'. 'Central Intelligence' got 37.35%.

For the other new releases, 'Grimm: Season Five' got 23%, 'Cell' got 22% and 'Welcome to Monster High: The Origin Story' managed only 11%.

As mentioned earlier, a lot of the new releases this week were available on multiple formats, including 4K and 3D. In fact, more were available on 4K than on 3D. 'Warcraft' was available on both formats, with the 3D edition getting a 3D sales share of 3.10%, and the UHD version getting 6.19%.

'The Shallows' was only on UHD, and it managed 3.33%. Similarly, 'Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates' also had a UHD version and it got 2.71%. 'Central Intelligence' got 1.73% on UHD, and again, it was not available on 3D.

It's definitely clear that it's much easier for studios to release titles on UHD than on 3D, mainly because most films just aren't suitable for 3D, while many films are already natively available in 4K.

This week's results just managed to avoid the dreaded "all red" status, with this week's Blu-ray market share just a little bit higher than the same week a year ago. You may wonder why last year's results were so good compared to this week's - that's because it was the week that 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' was released, one of the biggest releases of 2015.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $11.39m (down 25.8%), while DVD sales decreased by $21.08m (down 29.4%) producing $32.46 million less in combined revenue.

Blu-ray's market share increased from 38.12% to 39.30%.

                        Stats:

For the week ending October 8th 2016, here are the stats:

                        Percentage of revenue:
                        Blu-ray vs DVD: 39.04% vs 60.96%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $34.27 million
DVD sales total spending: $53.52 million

                        These stats available from here:

                        Top 10:

An A-list release this week in the form of X-Men: Apocalypse helped Blu-ray revenue rise compared to last week, although weekly Blu-ray market share remained largely unchanged.

'X-Men: Apocalypse' easily outsold all other titles this week, including last week's new release, Warcraft.

The next new release was in 4th place, The Purge: Election Year.

Going down the list, to 8th place, was the next new release, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV.

Going outside of the top 10, there was Vikings: Season 4 Vol. 1 in 14th and Attack on Titan - The Movie: Part 1 in 16th.

American Horror Story: Hotel came in at 13th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart, but failed to sell enough copies on Blu-ray to make it into the Blu-ray top 20.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                        1. X-Men: Apocalypse+
                        2. Warcraft+
                        3. *Beauty and the Beast: 25th Anniversary Signature Edition
                        4. The Purge: Election Year
                        5. Captain America: Civil War
                        6. Central Intelligence+
                        7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows+
                        8. Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV
                        9. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates+
                        10. The Jungle Book

Of the notable new releases this week, 'Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV' had the best BD sales share, with 69.30%. The week's actual top seller, 'X-Men: Apocalypse', wasn't too far behind (and was second place on the BD sales share chart) with 66.97%.

'Attack on Titan — The Movie: Part 1' got 60.46%, while 'The Purge: Election Year' also got above 50% with 50.61%.

'Vikings: Season 4 Vol. 1' managed 33%, while 'American Horror Story: Hotel' got 24%.

Out of these new releases, only one title was available on Blu-ray 3D and/or Ultra HD. 'X-Men: Apocalypse' had a 3D sales share of 4.38%, and a UHD sales share of 5.84%. A recent trend has emerged where packages with UHD has outsold packages with 3D, impressive considering how new 4K is - this seem to suggest 4K will have more legs than 3D.

                          Stats:

For the week ending October 15th 2016, here are the stats:

                          Percentage of revenue:
                          Blu-ray vs DVD: 39.04% vs 62.60%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $34.49 million
DVD sales total spending: $57.73 million

                          These stats available from here:

                          Home Media Magazine

                          Top 10:

Despite a raft of new releases, Blu-ray and DVD revenue remained largely unchanged from the previous week.

It really has to be considered a flop, as the new Ghostbusters reboot, Ghostbusters: Answer the Call failed to light up the Blu-ray sales charts either. It was the top selling title, and it did beat second placed new release The Legend of Tarzan quite handily, but as you can see from the revenue figures above, it was pretty average all around.

The same could be said of Ice Age: Collision Course - the 5th (and hopefully final) Ice Age movie failed to do anything significant at the box office, and it failed to warm up Blu-ray sales either for the week by coming in at 4th.

There were 3 more new releases outside of the Blu-ray top 10, Blood Father at 12th, The Infiltrator at 14th and Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party at 15th.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: The top 4 Blu-ray sellers this week were all available on Ultra HD Blu-ray, including this week's three top selling new releases. In fact, 7 of the top 10 titles all had UHD versions. It seems studios are really investing in UHD, which despite the need for a new player and TV combo, will be a much more accessible format than 3D (as many titles can't benefit from 3D, plus it's not something everyone can watch).

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                          1. Ghostbusters: Answer the Call+
                          2. The Legend of Tarzan+
                          3. X-Men: Apocalypse+
                          4. Ice Age: Collision Course+
                          5. *Beauty and the Beast: 25th Anniversary Signature Edition
                          6. Captain America: Civil War
                          7. Warcraft+
                          8. Central Intelligence+
                          9. The Purge: Election Year
                          10. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows+

None of this week's new releases managed to get above a 50% BD sales share. 'Ghostbusters: Answer the Call' came the closest, with 49.51%.

'The Infiltrator' was close behind with 48.19%. 'The Legend of Tarzan' managed 46.36%, with 'Ice Age: Collision Course' getting 43.42%.

'Blood Father' got 27%, while 'Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party' managed 18%.

The 3 best selling new releases were available on both 3D and UHD. 'Ghostbusters: Answer the Call', for which the 3D version was a Best Buy exclusive, managed a 3D sales share of 5.08%. 'The Legend of Tarzan' managed a 3D sales share of 3.09% while 'Ice Age: Collision Course' got 2.62%.

For UHD, 'Ghostbusters: Answer the Call' got 5.08%, 'The Legend of Tarzan' got 4.17%, and 'Ice Age: Collision Course' got 1.83%.

After coming close recently, we finally have another "all red" week, since this week's new releases could up match up to this time last year's line-up of 'Aladdin', 'San Andreas' and 'Tomorrowland'.

Blu-ray sales increased by $8.51m (down 19.8%), while DVD sales decreased by $6.13m (down 9.6%) producing $14.64 million less in combined revenue.

Blu-ray's market share decreased from 40.24% to 34.49%.

                            Stats:

For the week ending October 22nd 2016, here are the stats:

                            Percentage of revenue:
                            Blu-ray vs DVD: 35.67% vs 64.33%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $30.61 million
DVD sales total spending: $55.20 million

                            These stats available from here:

                            Top 10:

Despite the release of two more big budget movies, Blu-ray and DVD revenue continued their fall from last week. Independence Day: Resurgence and Alice Through the Looking Glass dominated the first and second spots on the sales charts, but failed to inspire the weekly revenue figures.

The fact that these were the only two new releases in the top 20 may have influenced things as well, and even in the combined Blu-ray and DVD top 20 chart, there was only the Walmart exclusive 'Independence Day 2-Pack' in 12th place, and the delightfully titled Barbie & Her Sisters in A Puppy Chase in 19th.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Of the two major releases, only Fox's 'Independence Day: Resurgence' was available on Ultra HD Blu-ray (Disney has yet to commit to the format, so it wasn't available for 'Alice Through the Looking Glass'). It did relatively well on the format, as you'll see below in the "Sales Share" section.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                            1. Independence Day: Resurgence+
                            2. Alice Through the Looking Glass
                            3. Ghostbusters: Answer the Call+
                            4. The Legend of Tarzan+
                            5. X-Men: Apocalypse+
                            6. Ice Age: Collision Course+
                            7. *Beauty and the Beast: 25th Anniversary Signature Edition
                            8. Captain America: Civil War
                            9. Warcraft+
                            10. Hocus Pocus

Of the two releases this week, it was actually 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' that had the best BD sales share, with 64.72%. 'Independence Day: Resurgence' did well too, with 58.75%.

As mentioned earlier, only the 'Independence Day' sequel was available on Ultra HD Blu-ray, and it was also available on 3D as well. The 3D edition managed a 3D sales share of 3.89%, while the UHD edition got 4.92%. The original movie had also been made available on UHD some time ago, and it topped the UHD sales share chart with 8.39%.

                            DVD: $68.23 million
This was always going to be a big drop, as this week's new releases had to go up against 'Jurassic World' from the same week last year, one of the biggest movies of all time and one of the top selling Blu-rays from 2015. So another "all red" week, but reasonable given the circumstances.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $33.7m (down 52.4%), while DVD sales decreased by $13.03m (down 19.1%) producing $46.73 million less in combined revenue.

Blu-ray's market share decreased from 48.52% to 35.67%.

For the week ending October 29th 2016, here are the stats:

                              Percentage of revenue:
                              Blu-ray vs DVD: 29.88% vs 70.12%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $21.62 million
DVD sales total spending: $50.73 million

                              Top 10:

Blu-ray revenue fell almost below the $20 million mark this week, and it happened for a very simple reason: there just weren't any major new releases this week.

'Independence Day: Resurgence' was still the week's top seller following its release last week, and it was all the way down to 7th for the first new release, Lights Out.

Then in 9th was the next new release, Nerve.

Outside of the top 10, Skiptrace finished 17th.

That was it in terms of new releases, and as you can see, it was hardly the most exciting line-up.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: None of this week's notable new releases were available on Ultra HD Blu-ray.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                              1. Independence Day: Resurgence+

                              4. X-Men: Apocalypse+
                              5. The Legend of Tarzan+
                              6. *Beauty and the Beast: 25th Anniversary Signature Edition

'Nerve' had the best BD sales share of the new releases this week, with 41.508%. 'Lights Out' managed 34.11%, while 'Skiptrace' managed 24%.

None of these new release were available on either 3D or UHD.

                              Blu-ray: $37.02 million
                              DVD: $65.54 million
While this time last year's 'Pixels' and 'Southpaw' weren't exactly major releases, the then recently released 'Jurassic World' was still selling strong and so this week's new releases had no chance, and produces another "all red" week.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $15.4m (down 41.6%), while DVD sales decreased by $14.81m (down 22.6%) producing $30.21 million less in combined revenue.

Blu-ray's market share decreased from 36.10% to 29.88%.

                                Stats:

For the week ending November 5th 2016, here are the stats:

                                Percentage of revenue:
                                Blu-ray vs DVD: 37.95% vs 62.05%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $35.18 million
DVD sales total spending: $57.51 million

                                Top 10:

Blu-ray market share and revenue made a recovery from the lows of last week, thanks largely to Star Trek: Beyond. The new Star Trek film was so popular that it outsold the second placed Bad Moms by more than a 4-to-1 margin, and that even the Star Trek - 3 Movie Collection pack was in the top 10 (at 8th).

Just behind the Star Trek 3 movie pack in 9th place was Outlander: Season Two.

Outside of the top 10 were a couple of other new releases. In 11th was Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders and Nine Lives in 14th.

But it was really the latest Star Trek film that helped Blu-ray revenue rise above $30 million once again, and for Blu-ray weekly market share to get closer to 40% again.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: 'Star Trek: Beyond' was available on Ultra HD Blu-ray, just one of the latest blockbuster releases to be made available on the new 4K format. As you will see in the "Sales Share" section below, it actually did very well on UHD Blu-ray as a percentage of total sales. Five of the top six selling titles this week on Blu-ray all had UHD BD versions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                                1. Star Trek: Beyond+
                                2. Bad Moms
                                3. Independence Day: Resurgence+
                                4. The Legend of Tarzan+
                                5. X-Men: Apocalypse+
                                6. Ghostbusters: Answer the Call+
                                7. *Beauty and the Beast: 25th Anniversary Signature Edition
                                8. Star Trek - 3 Movie Collection
                                9. Outlander: Season Two
                                10. Alice Through the Looking Glass

'Star Trek Beyond' not only led the sales charts, it also led the BD sales share chart with 73.50%. 'Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders' wasn't too behind at 67.61%.

'Bad Moms' got 47.38%, while 'Outlander: Season Two' got 33%, with 'Nine Lives' getting 31%.

As mentioned earlier, 'Star Trek: Beyond' was the only title available on Ultra HD Blu-ray, with a BD sales share of 7.60%. It was also the only title to be available on 3D, and once again, the 3D sales share was below that of the UHD version with 6.20%.

Another "all red" week, but again, kind of unavoidable with 'Star Trek: Beyond' up against the massive 'Inside Out' from a year ago.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $15.29m (down 30.3%), while DVD sales decreased by $19.89m (down 25.7%) producing $35.18 million less in combined revenue.
