    Stats:

For the week ending February 18th 2017, here are the stats:

    Percentage of revenue:
    Blu-ray vs DVD: 34.98% vs 65.02%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $31.23 million
DVD sales total spending: $58.05 million

    These stats available from here:

    Home Media Magazine

    Top 10:

Arrival was the best out of the new releases this week, but it failed to sell enough copies to get to the top of the Blu-ray sales chart, which this week, was still occupied by 'Trolls'.

'Arrival' was one of five new releases in the top 20, with the next best seller, The Edge of Seventeen, coming in at 6th.

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk was next on the list at 9th.

Outside of the top 10, we have Bleed for This and Priceless at 15th and 17th respectively.

All of these new releases, and with 'Trolls' still selling strong, allowed this week's revenue figures to stay relatively flat compared to last week's.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Both 'Arrival' and 'Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk' were available on Ultra HD Blu-ray, with both doing relatively well in terms of UHD sales.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
    1. Trolls+
    2. Arrival+
    3. Pinocchio
    4. Jack Reacher: Never Go Back+
    5. John Wick+
    6. The Edge of Seventeen
    7. The Secret Life of Pets+
    8. Justice League: Dark
    9. Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk+
    10. Beauty and the Beast

Blu-ray, Ultra HD Blu-ray Sales Share:

BD sales share for a title is the percentage of disc packages sold for this movie that contained the Blu-ray edition of the film (including combos, and Ultra HD editions). So a BD sales share of 60% indicates that 60% of disc packages sold for this particular film contained the Blu-ray edition for this film, and so anything over 50% means that the Blu-ray version of the film was more popular than the DVD version.

Despite not being the top seller, '60.61%' actually did well on Blu-ray as a comparison to DVD sales, with BD sales share of 60.61%. 'The Edge of Seventeen', 'Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk' and 'Bleed for This' all got over the 50% mark with 51.80%, 51.37% and 50.96% respectively.

    'Priceless' got 29%.

'Arrival' as also available as a UHD release with a UHD sales share of 9.44%. 'Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk' was available in 2 packages, a standard Blu-ray release, and one with not only the UHD version but the 3D version (the first package of this kind I can remember). This meant that Ang Lee's latest film had the same UHD and 3D sales share, which was 13.14%.

Notable mention goes to 'John Wick' again, with a UHD sales share of 31.13%.

      Stats:

For the week ending February 25th 2017, here are the stats:

      Percentage of revenue:
      Blu-ray vs DVD: 33.42% vs 66.58%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $31.09 million

      Top 10:

Blu-ray spending for the week ending February 25th remained largely unchanged compared to the previous week, while DVD sales increased slightly.

The week's top seller was new release Hacksaw Ridge.

Three other new releases were in the top 10, with Manchester by the Sea, Bad Santa 2 and Nocturnal Animals in 4th, 5th and 7th respectively.

Not selling enough copies to get into the Blu-ray top 20, but finishing 14th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart was 2014 French live action version of Beauty and the Beast.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Out of this week's new releases, only 'Hacksaw Ridge' was available on Ultra HD Blu-ray as a wide release. I mention this because 'Bad Santa 2' does have an Ultra HD edition, but it was a Best Buy exclusive. Including 'Bad Santa 2', 7 out of the top 10 all had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
      1. Hacksaw Ridge+
      2. Trolls+
      3. Arrival+
      4. Manchester by the Sea
      5. Bad Santa 2+

'Nocturnal Animals' was actually the title that did best in terms of BD sales share, with 55.03%. Top seller 'Hacksaw Ridge' wasn't too far behind though with 54.13%.

'Bad Santa 2' managed 42.57%, while 'Manchester by the Sea' got 40.92%.

'Beauty and the Beast' managed only 10%.

As mentioned earlier, only 'Hacksaw Ridge' was available as a general release on Ultra HD Blu-ray, and it had a UHD BD sales share of 6.30%. 'Bad Santa 2' had a Best Buy exclusive 4K edition, and so the BD sales share was at a low 1.34%. None of this week's mentioned new releases were available on 3D.

        Percentage of revenue:
        Blu-ray vs DVD: 40.83% vs 59.17%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $44 million

        Top 10:

A-list release Doctor Strange helped Blu-ray weekly revenue rise up above $40 million for the first time in 2017. Weekly Blu-ray market share also rose above 40% for the first time since December 2016.

There were three other new releases in the top 20, with Allied in 5th, eventual Oscar Best Picture winner Moonlight in 6th and Shut In.

But it was really all about 'Doctor Strange', with the latest Marvel epic selling 20 times as many copies as the next best selling new release 'Allied'.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Out of this week's new releases, only 'Allied' was available on Ultra HD Blu-ray. 5 out of the top 10 all had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):

'Doctor Strange' had an epic BD sales share to go along with the good sales results, with a BD sales share of 75.89%. This essentially means that 3 out of 4 people chose to buy the Blu-ray edition over the DVD only edition.

'Allied' was the next best out of the new releases, with 48%. 'Moonlight' got 36% while 'Shut In' managed 35%.

Of this week's new releases, one was available on 3D, and another was available on Ultra HD Blu-ray. 'Doctor Strange' did well on 3D, gaining a 3DBD sales share of 6.68%. 'Allied' also did well on Ultra HD Blu-ray, ensuring that 7.05% of all discs sales for the title was for the UHD version of the film.

          Top 10:

Another A-list release this week helped to push Blu-ray weekly revenue above $50 million for the first time in 2017.

Disney's Moana easily outsold everything this week, both on Blu-ray and on DVD.

It seems obvious that studios held back releases for fear of competing with Moana, and so the top 10 was otherwise free of new releases. In 11th, Jackie was the next best selling new release.

Down in 14th was the only remaining new release in the top 20, Incarnate.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: With the top seller being a Disney title, and the other two being smaller releases, none of these new releases were made available on Ultra HD Blu-ray. Despite this, 6 out of the top 10 all had UHD editions (the other 4 all being Disney/Marvel releases).

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
          1. Moana
          2. Doctor Strange

'Moana' managed to have the best BD sales share out of the trio of new releases this week, with 65.21%. 'Incarnate' managed 40.17%, while 'Jackie' got 38%.

While none of the new releases were available on Ultra HD Blu-ray, 'Moana' was available on Blu-ray 3D, with a BD3D sales share of 2.78%.

            Top 10:

Big budget box office disappointment (relatively speaking, of course) Passengers was this week's most popular new release, but it failed to unseat Disney's Moana from the top spot.

Fences was the next best selling new release, in 4th place.

It's one thing to be a box office disappointment, but critical disappointment Collateral Beauty only finished in 8th place.

One other release was in the top 20, Solace in 12th place.

Without another big A-list release arriving this week, Blu-ray revenue and weekly market share both dropped compared to the last two week's highs.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Only 'Passengers' was available on Ultra HD Blu-ray this week. Only four out of this week's top 10 were available on UHD.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
            1. Moana
            2. Passengers+
            3. Doctor Strange
            4. Fences
            5. Trolls+
            6. Hacksaw Ridge+
            7. Disney's Beauty and the Beast
            8. Collateral Beauty
            9. Arrival+
            10. Pinocchio

'Passengers' managed a BD sales share of 45.56%, which is somewhat below average for a new release. But it was still the best performing title out of this week's previously mentioned new releases. 'Fences' managed 39%, while 'Solace' had 37%. 'Collateral Beauty' managed 36%.

The 4K edition of 'Passengers' also included the 3D version of the film, a practice that may become more common in the near future, and so the title's BD3D and UHD share was the same, 9.18%.

              Top 10:

A better week for Blu-ray, with the release of box office smash Sing, which easily outsold anything else on offer this week including new release Assassin's Creed in a distant second place.

And then it's all the way down to 10th for the next new release, Live by Night.

In Dubious Battle in 18th place was the only other new release in the top 20.

But it was all about 'Sing', and it helped push Blu-ray revenue above $40 million once again, with weekly Blu-ray market share also going above 40%.
Without another big A-list release arriving this week, Blu-ray revenue and weekly market share both dropped compared to the last two week's highs.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Both of the top 2 sellers had UHD versions this week, with "Assassin's Creed" doing very well on UHD. Five out of this week's top 10 were available on UHD.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
              1. Sing+

Despite coming in second in sales to 'Sing', 'Assassin's Creed' actually had the better BD sales share with 64.86% compared to Sing's 60.96%.

'Live by Night' got 43.29%, just ahead of the 40.72% earned by 'In Dubious Battle'.

Both 'Sing' and 'Assassin's Creed' were available on both 3D and 4K. Assassin's Creed bettered 'Sing' on both formats, with a 3D sales share of 4.18% and a 4K sales share of 8.41%. 'Sing' managed a 3D sales share of 1.22% and a 4K sales share of 1.99%.

Despite this week's good results, it was nearly an "all red" week, as 'Sing' was up against the final 'Hunger Games' movie, which was released a year ago. This week's better weekly Blu-ray market share result saved the day.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $8.71m (down 16.7%), while DVD sales decreased by $32.84m (down 35.5%) producing $41.55 million less in combined revenue.

                Top 10:

A couple of big weeks for Blu-ray with the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and 'Rogue One' next week.

And it's not just the Hollywood blockbusters that's making waves this week too, but more on that later.

'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' did very well on Blu-ray and helped weekly Blu-ray revenue past the $50 million mark for only the second time this year, and helped weekly Blu-ray market share reach a 2017 high.

There were also several other notable releases in the top 10, with Patriots Day in 3rd and Why Him? in 6th.

A Monster Calls was in 10th, while Scorsese's Silence had to settle for a 14th place finish. Boruto: Naruto the Movie finished outside of the Blu-ray top 20, but got to 17th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart.

Those that have already sneaked a peak at the top 10 list below will have noticed I missed out on a release, and that was deliberate. Planet Earth II is a significant release that requires separate mention because it might be the first 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray title to deserve the "must-have" label.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: The top 4 new releases all had UHD editions, including Planet Earth II, and almost 2 out of 5 users chose to buy the UHD edition of the documentary. Seven titles out of this week's top 10 were available on UHD.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                1. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them+
                2. Sing+
                3. Moana
                4. Patriots Day+
                5. Assassin's Creed+
                6. Why Him?+
                7. Doctor Strange
                8. Planet Earth II+
                9. Trolls+
                10. A Monster Calls

In terms of Blu-ray sales share and UHD sales share, one title was able to beat all others this week: 'Planet Earth II'. It had a BD sales share of 80.55% and a UHD sales share of 38.07%, which must be a record.

That's not to say the other new releases didn't do well. 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' managed 61.50% and 'A Monster Calls' also got over the 50% mark with 50.78%. And despite not selling well, 'Silence' got 50.38%.

'Patriots Day' got 48.21%, while 'Why Him?' managed 38%.

'Boruto: Naruto the Movie' got 34%.

Despite the numerous releases, only one title, 'Fantastic Beasts', was available on 3D, with 2.81%. It compares poorly with the UHD edition of the film, which managed to sell almost twice as many copies at 5.44%. 'Patriots Day' had a UHD sales share of 5.82% and 'Why Him?' managed 3.05%.

                DVD: $60.67 million
These week's big releases had a major effect on Blu-ray revenue, not surprising considering the best that the first week of April 2016 could offer was 'The Hateful Eight'.

Blu-ray sales increased by $22.25m (up 73.8%), while DVD sales decreased by $0.12m (down 0.2%) producing $22.13 million more in combined revenue.

Blu-ray's market share increased from 33.20% to 46.39%.

                  Top 10:

A huge release this week in the form of the latest Star Wars movie, Rogue One, and it helped Blu-ray revenue and market share reach a high mark for the year.

No surprise then that the week was quiet in terms of other releases, with many being held back no doubt to avoid competing with Star Wars.

The only title brave enough to face the onslaught of Rogue One was Office Christmas Party - it came 6th, which is just about right.

And that was it in terms of new releases. Neither were available on Ultra HD Blu-ray, but Rogue One was on 3D, but only at Target and Best Buy.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Seven titles out of this week's top 10 were available on UHD.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):

Despite only being available at Best Buy and Target, the 3D edition of 'Rogue One' actually sold pretty well, with a 3D sales share of 7.95%.

                  DVD: $63.69 million
Despite this week's huge release, the release from a year ago was bigger. That bigger release was of course 'Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens', so you can't really be too surprised at this week's "all red" result.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $25.78m (down 27.6%), while DVD sales decreased by $3.95m (down 6.2%) producing $29.73 million less in combined revenue.

                    Stats:

For the week ending April 15th 2017, here are the stats:

                    Percentage of revenue:
                    Blu-ray vs DVD: 56.64% vs 43.36%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $51.01 million

                    Top 10:

The pre-Easter sales bump is happening this week (followed by the post-Easter sales lull, next week), and along with the release of a couple of good titles, and the continued success of 'Rogue One', Blu-ray revenue remained above the $50m mark this week, with DVD revenue also up as is the custom during the Easter sales period.

The best selling new release for the week was Hidden Figures, but it was only able to get to 3rd place, behind both 'Rogue One' and 'Sing'.

The only other new release in the Blu-ray top 10 was Monster Trucks.

Outside of the top 10 was critic favourite Lion in 13th place, The Bye Bye Man in 16th and War on Everyone in 20th place.

Comparing past Easter sales is not really all that fair, since new releases also play a big part in determining how things go. Last year pre-Easter week recorded a Blu-ray revenue of $52.17 million and a massive DVD revenue of $92.51 million, but the release of the last Hunger Games movie also played a big part. Still, while Blu-ray revenue was comparable to last year, DVD revenue seems to have fallen a lot, and this is not a great sign for DVDs. Going back a year, DVD revenue back then nearly broke through the $100 million mark, and so the decline is quite evident.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Only 'Hidden Figures' was released as a UHD title this week, out of all the new releases previously mentioned. Seven titles out of this week's top 10 were available on UHD.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                    1. Rogue One
                    2. Sing+
                    3. Hidden Figures+
                    4. Moana
                    5. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
                    6. Monster Trucks
                    7. Trolls+
                    8. Doctor Strange
                    9. The Secret Life of Pets+
                    10. Disney's Beauty and the Beast

Blu-ray, Ultra HD Blu-ray Sales Share:

Interestingly, 'War on Everyone', despite only coming in at 20th on the Blu-ray sales chart, had the best BD sales share of 95.84% - nearly every copy of 'War on Everyone' sold was the Blu-ray one (which also included the DVD edition).

The other new releases had more "normal" BD sales share results, with 'Monster Trucks' getting 46.45%, 'Hidden Figures' getting 44%, and 'The Bye Bye Man' on 40%.

                    'Lion' managed 36%.

With none of this week's mentioned new releases available on 3D, all eyes were on the UHD edition of 'Hidden Figures', which got a UHD sales share of 2.67% - not the best, in all honesty.

An "all green week" for once, but not really a fair comparison between the pre-Easter sales bump and just a normal week in April.

Blu-ray sales increased by $14.81m (up 40.9%), while DVD sales increased by $13.79m (up 26.1%) producing $28.60 million more in combined revenue.

                      Top 10:

From the pre Easter bump last week to the post Easter lull this week, no surprises that Blu-ray and DVD revenue both fell dramatically compared to last week.

Blu-ray revenue was nearly half of what it was last week, despite the fact that there were 4 new releases in the top 20.

The best selling of the new releases was Split, but it only came second, below 'Rogue One'.

In 4th place was Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, followed by Sleepless in 8th.

Outside of the top 10 was The Founder, in 12th.

Comparing this post Easter lull to the last one, which managed to record a Blu-ray revenue of $30.15 million and a DVD revenue of $60.67 million, things don't look great. The only thing up this year was weekly Blu-ray market share, at 38.70% compared to 33.20% from last year, which only confirms that DVD revenue is falling a lot faster than Blu-ray revenue at the moment.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Disappointingly, none of this week's new releases were released on 4K UHD. As a result, only three titles out of this week's top 10 were available on UHD.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                      1. Rogue One
                      2. Split
                      3. Hidden Figures+
                      4. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

'Sleepless' and ' The Founder' managed 46% and 43% respectively.

None of this week's mentioned new releases available on 3D or UHD, which is kind of boring.

Nearly an "all red week", saved by Blu-ray market share as usual, but the "poor" results was always likely to happen when you compare the post Easter lull with a "normal" week (which included the release of 'The Revenant').

                        Top 10:

Both Blu-ray revenue and DVD revenue rose compared to last week, thanks to a couple of new releases. The most notable of which was La La Land, which outsold the second placed Underworld: Blood Wars, which was also a new release. The difference between the two wasn't too great though, and another Underworld title, the Underworld Ultimate Collection was also in the top 10, at 10th (it was also a Blu-ray exclusive).

Outside of the top 10 at 12th was the last of the new releases in the top 20, The Girl With All the Gifts.

Failing to make the Blu-ray top 20, but coming in at 15th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart was The Marine 5: Battleground.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Both of the top two sellers, 'La La Land' and 'Underworld: Blood Wars' were available on Ultra HD Blu-ray, ensuring 5 out of the top 10 this week all had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                        1. La La Land+
                        2. Underworld: Blood Wars+
                        3. Rogue One
                        4. Moana
                        5. Split
                        6. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them+
                        7. Sing+
                        8. Hidden Figures+
                        9. Teen Titans: The Judas Contract
                        10. *Underworld Ultimate Collection

You may be surprised to find that the title with the highest BD sales share this week was 'The Girl With All the Gifts', with 81.91%. Top seller 'La La Land' did well too, with 63.80%.

'Underworld: Blood Wars' also managed to get over 50%, with 54.67%.

'The Marine 5: Battleground' got 31%.

There were no 3D releases, but on UHD 'Underworld: Blood Wars' beat 'La La Land' 7.39% vs 5.38%.

For the week ending May 6th 2017, here are the stats:

                          Percentage of revenue:
                          Blu-ray vs DVD: 35.81% vs 64.19%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $25.53 million
DVD sales total spending: $45.76 million

                          Top 10:

Blu-ray revenue dropped slightly compared to last week, as the new release line-up this week was relatively weak.

A Dog's Purpose was the best selling of the new releases, but it failed to outsell 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story', which took back top spot.

The next new release was all the way down in 9th, Rings, with Gold finishing outside of the top 10 in 11th.

And that was it in terms of new releases.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: None of this week's top selling new releases were available on Ultra HD Blu-ray. This meant that only 4 out of the top 10 titles on Blu-ray this week had a UHD edition to go along with it.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                          1. Rogue One
                          2. A Dog's Purpose
                          3. La La Land+
                          4. Underworld: Blood Wars+
                          5. Moana

Of the three new releases previously mentioned, 'Rings' had the best BD sales share with 45.94%. 'A Dog's Purpose' wasn't too far behind though, with 45%. 'Gold' was further behind with 35%.

There were no 3D or UHD releases for these three titles.

                            Top 10:

Blu-ray and DVD revenue rose slightly compared to last week, and it was largely down to one new release and one new re-release, the top selling Fifty Shades Darker.

It was otherwise a quiet week for Blu-ray, with the only other new release in the top 20 being the previously mentioned re-release,
Heat: Director's Definitive Edition in 11th place.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: 'Fifty Shades Darker' was available on Ultra HD Blu-ray, but that was it in terms of top selling titles on UHD. 6 of the top 10 Blu-ray sellers all had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                            1. Fifty Shades Darker+
                            2. La La Land+

'Fifty Shades Darker' managed a 3% UHD sales share as well.

For the week ending May 20th 2017, here are the stats:

                              Top 10:

Both Blu-ray and DVD revenue were down compared to just a week ago, despite the release of five new releases in the Blu-ray top 20.

But none of these releases were what you would call A-list releases, with most of these movies having failed to make a big impact at the box office.

The top seller for the week was still a new release, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, although on DVD, it was another new release that topped the chart - Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (the last Resident Evil movie finished second on the Blu-ray chart).

It's then all the way down to 11th for the next new release, The Space Between Us.

Two box set collections made the top 20 as well, including Resident Evil: The Complete Collection in 14th and The Mummy Ultimate Collection in 15th.

On the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart was another new release, Wonder Woman: Commemorative Edition in 13th.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Only the top two sellers had UHD editions, making it seven out of ten the number of titles in the Blu-ray top 10 that had UHD editions. Not too shabby at all.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                              1. xXx: Return of Xander Cage+
                              2. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter+
                              3. Fifty Shades Darker+
                              4. Rogue One
                              5. Moana

                              7. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them+
                              8. La La Land+
                              9. Sing+
                              10. Underworld: Blood Wars+

'The Mummy' box set had the highest BD sales share - a DVD edition was made available, but I don't think many people purchased that one - it ended up with a BD sales share of 95.17%. Despite not making the Blu-ray top 20, 'Wonder Woman' got 62.06%, even ahead of this week's top seller 'xXx: Return of Xander Cage' which managed 57.87%.

'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' got 52.70%, while 'The Space Between Us' just missed out on reaching half a century with 49%.

As mentioned previously, both the top 2 sellers had UHD editions, but 'xXx: Return of Xander Cage' also had a 3D edition which didn't do very well - only responsible for 0.54% of all sales for the movie. Its UHD edition did much better with 6.02%, but it was still behind the 7.45% for 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter'.

                              DVD: $49.75 million
Another "all red" week prevented thanks for Blu-ray weekly market share. I guess the team-up of 'Resident Evil' and 'xXx', both extremely tired franchises to be fair, could not go up against 'Dirty Grandpa' and a still very strong selling 'Deadpool' from this time last year.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $0.7m (down 2.6%), while DVD sales decreased by $8.46m (down 17%) producing $9.16 million less in combined revenue.

Blu-ray's market share increased from 35.27% to 39.01%.

                                Top 10:

Some big releases this week helped Blu-ray revenue rise by more than $10m compared to last week.

The top seller, which was a new release, was Logan sitting comfortably at top way ahead of the second placed (and also new release), The Great Wall.

Get Out was the next best selling new release in 8th place.

The next two new releases, coincidentally, were all dog movies (making it 3 dog movies in the top 20 - surely a first!). Rock Dog was the better selling of the two, coming in at 9th, while Max 2: White House Hero came in at 15th.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: The top two sellers, 'Logan' and 'The Great Wall', all had UHD editions, making it five out of ten the number of titles in the Blu-ray top 10 that had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
                                1. Logan+
                                2. The Great Wall+
                                3. Get Out
                                4. xXx: Return of Xander Cage+
                                5. Fifty Shades Darker+
                                6. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter+
                                7. Moana
                                8. Rogue One
                                9. Rock Dog
                                10. A Dog's Purpose

'Logan' had the best BD sales share of all Blu-ray titles, not just new releases, this week with 72.79%. With 59.66%, 'The Great Wall' also did very well on Blu-ray. No surprises that both had UHD versions as well, which might have helped with these results.

But it probably only helped a little bit as 'Get Out', which didn't have an UHD edition, also did well with 58.37%.

'Rock Dog' and 'Max 2: White House Hero' got 38% and 25% respectively.

As mentioned previously, both the top 2 sellers had UHD editions, but none of this week's mentioned new releases had 3D editions (did anyone say "dead format"?). 'Logan' did really well on UHD, with 10.10%, while 'The Great Wall' wasn't too bad either with 6.58%.

                                Year on Year Comparison

The stats for the week ending May 28, 2016 are as follows. Some small adjustments to the data posted last year (based on more recent updates) has been made and is shown below.

                                Blu-ray: $23.68 million
                                DVD: $49.25 million
Definitely no "all red" week here, as 'Logan' easily out-trumped 'Risen' from a year ago.

Blu-ray sales increased by $13.07m (up 55.2%), while DVD sales decreased by $4.68m (down 9.5%) producing $8.39 million more in combined revenue.

Blu-ray's market share increased from 32.47% to 45.19%.
