Microsoft tells Next-Gen that the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV is outselling the PlayStation 3 version by a wide margin in the US, but Sony questions Microsoft's claims.
The problem for Sony is that even the perception that the 360 version is outselling the PS3 version will help the 360 version as multiplayer works best when everybody is using the same version (although it's more to do with your friends having the same version, rather than the general public).
But GTA IV might help Sony to drive more hardware sales than MS. Many people were waiting for GTA IV before getting the PS3, whereas there are less of these types of users for the 360.
SCEA and GameStop say that the release of Grand Theft Auto IV drove a spike in PlayStation 3 sales, but to what extent?
