Microsoft to offer free security program

Microsoft says it will discontinue sales of its subscription PC security service and instead offer free software to help protect computers from viruses, spyware and other threats.

The new security program, which the company has code-named "Morro", will be available as a free download in the second half of next year.

I also heard the other day that they might bring out a 2way firewall next year, as yet have not been able to verify.

As usual, Microsoft is looking out for itself, they could not sell "morro" as payware so they will give away "morro" as freeware.

To have Microsoft products, with virus, worms, trogens is a BAD IMAGE for Microsoft, so they look better to the general public, and their products look better to the general public by providing a free antivirus, malware prodict.

Its cheaper for them to provide antivirus to clean their product, then to listen to all the bad mouth back to them from the general public about their bad products that contain, virus, worms, ect.

P.S. Thats why they also started their own firewall protection.
