    3D TV closer than ever

Consumer electronics makers have picked 3D as the next front in the TV wars, unveiling several 3D TVs to support the upcoming onslaught of 3D films.

At the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Sony, Panasonic, LG, Mitsubishi and Samsung all showed off prototypes of or announced plans to develop television sets that can show content in 3D.

I was just going to post a new thread on this, but knew you most likely already had as HD is your for the most part your best area of interest and/or expertise. I saw that whole display as shown in the news and it was really something to marvel at for lack of a better word right now. Primarily though they're talking about them for the Game Enthusiast mostly right now, but did mention that in as early as 3-5 years we might be seeing live broadcasts. This would really be something, and as expected Sony is in the mix, if not in the forefront.

I guess that 2012 deadline for blu-ray is hitting home as that's almost exactly the 3-5 years away mentioned. New format in the mix you know or heard rumors about Admin?

My friend came from Virgin Records the other day, and said they had the whole Superman collection on 1 disc, and that it wasn't blu-ray. I asked him 2 0r 3 times. He said it didn't mention blu-ray on the p[ackage at all. He's either blind or something's cooking already. I know that a dual layer would no way hold the whole Superman collection. So let us please know if this is true according to your latest findings, or if it's a total miscue on my friend's part. Thnx.

I'm going to ask him again just to be more sure. The kid's clean as a whistle so I'm automatically ruling out him being drunk at the time. Lol...
    SAMSUNG SH-S203B, SAMSUNG SH-S223F,

Take the suggestions and follow the directions. The results will speak for themselves.

    Google is definitely our friend.

I agree that the Blu-ray deadline is more then coincidental...

I believe the "Tera Optical" disk is what your friend saw... It can hold 1Tera Bite so I would think that would be more then enough for the Superman Collection...

Thnx Sham and welcome. So it's HD but not Blu-ray correct? Is this a new format or has it been around a bit? I know my friend's not all up there, but now this confirmation at least puts things in perspective.

You're welcome and thank you for the reception... It is HD but not blu-ray that is correct... I believe it is a new format as well and although I read about it back in 04' being developed this thread reminded me of the technology... It seems to be getting closer to making it's debute but we'll see...

I also believe this is the begining of using "LIGHT" as a way to store and send data so in 10 years today's broadband will seem pathetically slow...
