GeoCities, a free Web hosting service that achieved fame in the mid-90s, died Thursday at the Yahoo headquarters in Silicon Valley. GeoCities was 15 years old.
The very first version of ddigest was hosted on Geocities. Actually, multiple Geocities accounts as one couldn't handle the traffic. ddigest would have survived the first few months without this free hosting, because hosting was expensive back then. So long Geocities!
