Ouch! PS2 beats PS3 in sales in April

1. Nintendo DS - 1,040,000 units
2. Wii - 340,000 units
3. Xbox 360 - 175,000 units
4. PlayStation 3 - 127,000 units
5. PSP - 116,000 units
6. PlayStation 2 - 172,000 units


According to the latest NPD Numbers, the Playstation 2 has beaten the Playstation 3 in number of console sales. That is not good news for Sony as the 9 year old console is kicking its less then 3 year old siblings butt.

The PS2 price drop was probably responsible for the spike in sales for the console, because the sales numbers were dwindling just like the PSP (down 40-50% from the same time last year, for both consoles).

All the consoles dropped due to the economy and a weaker games line up, but the Xbox 360 dropped the least as it was the cheapest. Only the DS (DSi) managed to increase in sales, but that's just due to the "new to market" spike.

For the PS3, that's the 6th straight month where the sales numbers were down compared to the same time last year, so it isn't just an anomaly.

yes that price drop is the reason that i hear god hands all the time frm brothers room he just bought one, cause he cant handle computer games and keyboard.
