LG has released its HR400 Blu-ray disc player and digital TV recorder (not a Blu-ray recorder). It is a Blu-ray Profile 2.0 player (BD Live), and includes a 160 GB hard-disk for recording digital TV programs (Freeview). In fact, it can record one program and allow you to watch another at the same time (Freeview+), plus all the usual DVR functions like time shifting and series recording.
YouTube viewing is also supported, as is DivX playback.
The price? The retail price is £350, or translates to around $USD 570 on current exchange rates, which is not that unreasonable at all. But will you see this in the US? Probably not at present, since the state of Digital TV recording isn't as clear in the US as it is in the UK (and with TiVo being so popular in the US, it's hard to establish a market for a non TiVo based recorder). Plus there will be copyright concerns that will also limit the development of these type of devices.
A Blu-ray player with TiVo function built in? Now that's something to think about ...
