In what sounds like a badly made up rumour thanks to the good old anonymous source, an anonymous French retailer says that the PS3 Slim will be here in September, and it will carry a price cut of 100 Euros too. The PS3 currently retails for about 400 Euros, or a massive $USD 560, which is even more ridiculously priced than here in Australia. With the new price, the Euro version is still more expensive than the US retail pricing (and that's before you get into discounts and bundles).
It's unknown whether the price cut will make its way over to the US, but with Sony claiming a 70% cost reduction on manufacturing PS3s, it would be especially greedy (and self damaging) on Sony's part if the new PS3 does not come with a price cut (or at least, a price cut on the PS3 "Fat's", if the PS3 Slim debuts at the regular price).
