The Pirate Party UK (PPUK) has just been launched and officially registered as a political party. Which is just as well because the UK government plans to brand 7 million of its citizens as criminals, as it plans to crackdown on piracy by issuing fines of up to 50,000 pounds and disable Internet access to those found guilty of downloading.
This comes after extensive lobbying of the British government by "influential people" in the film and music industry.
The PPUK plans to address this imbalance as it says that copyright laws are horribly one sided in favour of big business, due to the lobbying efforts by the RIAA, MPAA and related organisations.
