The British Office of Communications (Ofcom) has declared that the proposed DRM solution by the BBC for their Freeview HD service cannot go ahead, not right now anyway.
Citing the need for more time to study the proposal, Ofcom has right now refused the proposed DRM plan, which would aim to prevent piracy, but could also stifle innovation in terms of third party and open source hardware and software for Freeview HD.
DRM could still be implemented at a later stage.
