Sony, MPAA Shuts Down Free Community Wi-Fi Network Over Single Piracy Claim

Abusing the current bias in copyright legislation, and the fear of lawsuits by ordinary folks, Sony has forced an Ohio community free Wi-Fi network to be shut down over a single piracy complaint.

The free Wi-Fi network is used by local law enforcement, local businesses and visitors, but it has now been shut down due to fear of lawsuits.

When the MPAA was asked whether this was excessive, the MPAA used the opportunity once again to spew propaganda in regards to the dangers of piracy.

The shame game has worked. Sony backs down and asks for the Wi-Fi network to be re-opened, promising not to sue the county, instead helping them to track down the dirty stinky pirate that forced the network to be shut down in the first place (so accepting no responsibility that it was their over eager legal team and their own scare campaign of sending legal notices, that scared the county into taking drastic action).
