    Australia's Data Retention Proposal

In a nutshell, the Australian Government wants internet service providers to keep anything and everything they have the ability to log and retain for two years 'at this stage

This is totally unacceptable. The government is doing it to please US movie studios and also religious conservatives, who are also in full support of the plan to filter out "unacceptable" content (the government gets to decide what's acceptable for us).

I thought we had it bad here in the US. Your Govt is wanting total control, also what happened to the separation of church and state.

And to think that this is actually our version of a central-left party (equivalent to the US Democrats) doing all these crazy things!

Except when the communist does it, it's to maintain control. This government looks set to lose the next election because of this (and other issues), and they're doing it not for control but for religious reasons (or to please the religious parties in order to secure some kind of deal, perhaps). Doing this will turn off all the people that voted for them in the last election (myself included), so it's a kind of political suicide, and I have no idea why they're doing it.

And we still don't have an 18+ rating for video games, so games have to be suitable for teens or they can't get published here.

That is what the Democraps did here with the mandatory heath care here in the US. You will have health care and if you do not you will be fined like a $1000 for not having health insurance. But people that have premium insurance will be penalized. The number battered around was like $1000 also. So since my wife has premium insurance she will have to pay. It will be interesting this coming November to see the Democrats loose their majority. So each of our countries have there governmental problems.

Games are rated in Sweden. You can buy games that are rated for 15 years even if you are under that age as it's only a recommendation.

Only 18 years rated games are forbidden to be sold to minors. I guess that's why minors always asks for those as Christmas/birthday gifts.
