Nintendo's upcoming 3DS portable console will finally copy one of the best features of R4 carts, carts that allow pirated games to be played on the DS console.
The 3DS will now allow games to be installed onto internal memory, and unlike the PS3, Xbox 360 version of "installs", you don't need the original disc/cart in order to play "installed" games. This makes portable gaming much easier (no need to carry dozens of carts around), and copies one of the best features of R4 carts.
It is believed that Nintendo is doing this to cut out legitimate use as a reason for using R4 carts, as to be able to say that anyone who uses R4 or similar carts are only doing so for piracy reasons.
