Consumer Reports, the influential US magazine that does product testing, has refused to recommend the new iPhone 4, due to a hardware design flaw with the phone that may cause signal losses, their testings showed.
Apparently, by placing your hands over an area of the phone on the lower left side, this can cause signal degradation and drop outs when the overall signal is already weak.
Apple have previously denied that a hardware flaw existed, although they did recently confirm of a software bug that displayed and reported signals far stronger than what was actually available.
The solution to the problem is actually quite simple. Using masking tape to tape over the affected area seems to fix the problem, but that's far from an elegant solution.
