The Free Software Foundation plans to turn a virtual protest into a physical one by promising to send a brick to the President of Nintendo for every $10 donation made to the outfit.
Protesting the 3DS user agreement, which includes a disturbing section that threatens gamers to make their console "permanently unplayable" if they try to make unauthorized modifications to their 3DS, FSF wants to send Nintendo, in particularly, Nintendo's president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime, a message. The message being that if Nintendo wants to "brick" people's consoles, then they'll get "bricked" too - "Brick Nintendo before they brick you".
By donating $10 to FSF, the money will be used to buy a brick, wrap it all up, and then post the brick to Nintendo, along with a letter with your name (or anonymously), protesting the DRM decision. Protesters can get further discounts by donating more, $45 for 5 bricks, and $250, the cost of the 3DS, for 30 whole bricks!
The FSF plans to send at least 200 bricks, and as FSF is a non-profit, all donations are tax deductible as well (in the United States, anyway). The campaign is set to end today, unless it is extended once more due to popular demand.
