Steve Jobs: Android is a "stolen product", "I'm going to destroy Android"

A new biography of the late Steve Jobs reveals the man's intense hatred of Google's Android mobile platform, as the Apple CEO promised to use all his company's resources to destroy Android.

The authorised biography written by Walter Isaacson, simply titled 'Steve Jobs', , revealed Jobs' reaction when HTC released the first Android phone back in January 2010, and Jobs held nothing back when talking to Isaacson about Google's competing phone OS.

"I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong. I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this," Jobs is reported to have told Isaccson.

The biography also notes a meeting between Steve Jobs and then Google CEO Eric Schmidt. The matter of a financial settlement was discussed, and Jobs was not interested at all. "I don't want your money. If you offer me $US5 billion, I won't want it. I've got plenty of money. I want you to stop using our ideas in Android, that's all I want, " Jobs allegedly told Schmidt.

Apple is currently suing both Samsung and HTC, major supporters of the Android platform, for infringing iPhone and iPad patents.

The thing is that everybody steals from everybody - Apple would be hypocritical if they say they've never stolen anybody's ideas before.

Honestly, how does the Galaxy S look anything like the iPhone? It's got four main functional buttons, not just one. And if Apple now has the right to patent a square piece of plastic with rounded edges (as that's really all the galaxy S has in common...), then that's just sad.

Personally I hope those lawsuits get dismissed, there are plenty of iPhone users out there... Apple should enjoy just reaping in the cash and stop trying to sue people.
