    audio dvds?

in the near future i think DVD companies should make audio dvds. so you could have lots of hours of music on a dvd. I also hear that the 4cd set of encarta are being sold on 1 dvd. isnt that cool?

You will need new soundcards that can utilise the multi-channel and the 24-bit/192KHz sound of DVD-A. I am aware of only two cards that support DVD-A and they are the Creative Audigy2 and M-Audio Revolution.

From my limited reading on the DVD-A standard, it utilises multi-channel sound (as opposed to the conventional stereo sound). In addition, it has higher resolution and sampling rate at 24-bit/192KHz (as opposed to the conventional 16-bit/44.1KHz).

And regarding the higher resolution, you WILL require new soundcards that can playback the sound at that resolution. The older Audigy 1 and the Live will not suffice. The above-mentioned Audigy 2 and Revolution are designed to be able to fully support DVD-A. After reading around, I found that Terratec's new cards Sky and Space (not the Fun) are capable of playing DVD-A as well.

first, are you trying to play a movie or burn a movie?
Is the movie a DVD or divx, because you dont usually get movies in DVD form off the internet...?

Do you simply intend to create a data disc? or an svcd/vcd which may play on your standalone dvd player (check your documentation to see if your player supports the (s) vcd standard).

                        Post your (s)Vcd authoring process.

I would recommend that you convert the file with TMPGEnc and then simply burn with NERO

visit the vcdhelp.com website, where you can find detailed guides on (s)vcd authoring/burning.

yes, svcd/vcd is the way to go if you want to be able to play a movie on a dvd standalone. but burning the file as a data file will NOT work if you put it in a dvd standalone. Only 2 dvd standalone players that i know of can play divx files, but is greatly limited.

I do believe that this forum is the "off-topic" section...
