HP-100i

I purchased an HP-100i Writer about a year ago. When I tried to burn a DVD movie on a DVD+R disk I found out the HP-100i would not write to DVD+R disks. Like a fool I didn’t read the small print when I purchased it.
What a joke.
I was wondering if there is firmware that can solve the problem, maybe fool the machine.
