    Work Work Work :-(

Hey guys. I was just curious how many hours do you work a day on average (everyone) I mean I am 13 and I pushed a 14 hour day last Saturday. This crap is killing me

The general accepted work hour here in Australia is 8 hours a day. Any more than that is considered overtime and pay generally is higher. I know of a few friends who work 10-12 hours on certain days and their pay is really really good.

Strictly speaking, having to work 14 hours a day is not humane of your employer though. Not even if the pay is good.

One of the nice things about retiring early is having as many hours as you want. I cram as much as I can into a 16 hour day (usually!!) but I still don't have enough hours in the day. On the aside - when you are retired the best time of the week is Sunday night and I don'y think you will need too many guesses to figure out why
      Regards

ps: When I did work, running my own business - 16 to 18 hours a day wasn't unusual.

Since you've previously made reference to your age:

A serious/sincere question (No joke intended) - Aren't there child labour laws in Louisiana, that restrict both age and allowable number of hours worked per day/week?

Yea its probably just "under the table". At least in Virginia you cant work untill you turn 15 and then you have to have a work permit.

I mostly do paper work and such but sometimes I go out on the crew boat and pump barges.

At the risk of sounding patronising (which I don't intend to be), you sound as though you're not too happy working these long hours [" this crap is killing me" ]. Unless you're really strapped for cash, you should give it up. Time enough to be stooped over a desk, waiting at the behest of others when you have to - and that day will come quicker than you think. Life is much too short - work Saturday morning only if you have to - make the rest of the weekend your own.

For the past few weeks I've worked 10+ hour days, it's averaged out to around 70 hours a week (I refuse to work sundays, so it's not a terrible amount). I don't even get overtime.

And yes, it's very exhausting. Especially when you're trying to go to school at the same time. And encode things

                            I am a student...
                            6 hours at school
12 hours of Homework (whoever invented this...)
                            5 hours of sleep
in one hour I can have breakfast, dinner, and several quadruple shots of espresso (I have connections at Starbucks)

and between connection and transfers, I can get in a few minutes of this Forum!

You should not be living such an unhealthy lifestyle if you are still at school. At school is were you have all the fun (and learning ) so you should be enjoying yourself. You are living the lifstyle of an adult which is not good.
