The XBox comes fitted with a 733MHz CPU by the way. It is halfway between a Pentium III and a Celeron, having 128KB of L2 cache (Celeron trait) and a 133MHz FSB (Pentium III trait).

@Enchanter: what i meant by my post was how much computer you can buy for 300$ CAN compared to an Xbox which does have a not bad processor.

            I see.

I just wanted to make sure noone really believe that an XBox comes fitted with a pre-historic Pentium chip. That will spark a real nasty controversy.

Nope. It is the fastest when compared to those of the PS2 and the likes.

However, as hacker_on_fire put it, it is the quality of the games that counts, not the CPU.

                  I voted XBOX.

There are already some very good games available for that platform, and the hardware is impressive. Although it may be ugly, it's only a machine, and beauty is skin deep anwyays

The XBOX came out after the launch of the PS2, so it is only obvious that it would be bundeled with relatively new hardware, which gives it a performance boost over the PS2. This has little, if anything to do, with the ATI VS NVIDIA debate.

I also think the Gamecube should be included in the console comparison. It's small, sleek, and has some unique game titles. (However it does not support dvd playback).

                        ATI vs nVidia?

Maybe, but I won't be a participant here. Don't care much for console games.

XBOX is nice. I must admit. I've played it and like it.. But my Modified PS2 beats em all

Looks are not so important, unless the console is gonna be in the living room etc.. The Gamecube is a very good console which is BETTER OVERALL then the XBox but i prefer the the PS2 becuase:

                            - i think PS2 has got the best controller
                            - i had PS1(PSX) so i had the controllers etc.. (backward compatibillity)
                            - i prefer the games available on the PS2. I am not saying the Gamecube games are bad, its just i don't like Platformer/RPG type games (mario, donkey kong, zelda, luigi...). I prefer such games as Timesplitters2, Pro Evo Soccer2, NBA Street2, MetalGearSolid2, Gran Turismo, SSX Tricky, GTA Vice City, Devil May Cry...

So depending on what type of games you like go for PS2 or GameCube. BUT dont get XBox, cos it just sucks and of all the other reasons mentioned before and cos your're better getting a PC espically if you want to play online.

Also talking about backward compatability all of the other systems are starting on new media and PS2 will still play PS1 games

Backward compatibility is important cos u can save a lot of money if you own a PS1/PSX and can be a decider factor when purchasing.
