One minor we annoyance is the 60 second posting rule
If you spend less than a minute, to read a message and write a reply, you should put more thought into your postings.
And apparently, someone already has some beef with you on that subject.
It's not all about how many posts you make, making good quality posts is much more important.Last edited by khp; 8 Aug 2003, 06:41 AM.Donate your idle CPU time for something usefull.

No, thats not what im talking about. I put thought into my threads, thts why i am a hand picked senior member of the afterdawn forum with 1000's of posts. I can answer pretty quickly. This has only taken about 30secs!http://www.dvd-backup.tkComment

You are hand picked to be a senior member if the mods/admin want you to be one. Not everyone become senior members on afterdawn just because they post loads. I think that the 60 seconds a bit a ridiculous, in fact afterdawn was thinking about it till all the mods and senior members voted against it.
My answers are as i feel they need be and i wont be changing my style of answering either!!http://www.dvd-backup.tkComment

I second khp's thoughts.
The 60 second interval between posts rule exist so as to prevent too-quick-replies and, more importantly, spams. Besides preventing these, the rule effectively reduces unnecessary bandwith usage by cutting down on unnecessary posts. 60 seconds is not a large amount of time, especially when you have free time enough to hover in forums and posts loads of messages.
Cheers!
p.s. What is this afterdawn thingy? Perhaps I can take a look at the forum and see the sorts of people who get 'handpicked' by the mods.Comment

Ok, after tons of complains and questions, the userlevel system has been changed. Now, the userlevels that you can see across our sites (AfterDawn.com...
Also, i agree with the length of time for beginners, junior members etc... But for say 5 star members, the time delay should be removed!http://www.dvd-backup.tkComment

The 60 second rule is built into VBulletin by default, mainly to prevent spam. Without hacking the software, you can't have different limits for different user groups.
Here's VBulletin's reason for having this option :
You may prevent your users from flooding your board with posts by activating this feature. By enabling floodcheck, you disallow users from posting within a given time span of their last post. In other words, if you set a floodcheck time span of 60 seconds, a user may not post a note within 60 seconds of his last post. Administrators and moderators are exempt from floodcheck.Comment

Yeah, i dont find it too much trouble. I use my outlook express and just go through the threads that way. When im posting like that there are on a few occasions times when my answer/question doesnt take too long to post and i get the message of 60sec's. I suppose ill just live with it
Thanks for replying
