If you're going to do a remake it really does need to be better than the original..... That said maybe reviewers are harder on the new version cos they fondly remember the original ? Just watched The Deer Hunter for the first time. Damn good movie IMO.
Now I'm on the hunt for more greats like this that I never knew were so good.

I 'm not sure you seen my other post on this so I will suggest it again.There is a series I really like from Showtime called "Weeds" I found this show to be brilliant I enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the Sopranos.I will try to sum this show up with out giving away to much,basically it's about a women who lost her husband and has limited job skills so to make ends meet she sells weed to get by.The acting is great also Kevin Nealon was made for this show with his type of humor he fits in great his role is the town Mayor and as for Mary-Louise Parker she is perfect she's funny and witty when her character calls for it.If you have time check out season 1on DVD
