Not seen it, but a mate has got it and is bringing it round this week. For all you international film fans, this looks very intresting. A three part horror/scifi/thriller/action/mindf*ck film. Nochnoy Dozor (night watch) Its got the budget of a hollywood film, but written by russians. So should be different from the usual tat hollywood pukes up.

Speaking of good movies, "Der Himmel über Berlin" aka "Wings of Desire" (1987) http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0093191/ features Peter Falk in a role that nobody else could play. I've read that the Nic Cage film "City of Angels" is an Americanized remake loosely based on this powerful film. Apparently Dennis Franz plays Falk's role, but I haven't seen it so can't say for sure.

If you can find the patience to watch Wings of Desire, (most of it is in black & white, with subtitles) you'll discover a lyrical portrait of the human condition unlike any other. It's considered the best foreign film of the '80s by many, myself included.

Speaking of Crash, couldn't they have come up with a different name? There are now 14 titles on IMDB called 'Crash'.

i liked it, better than i expected, and yes the name is really stupid. i can't stand when movies get a stupid title like that. they should give movies powerful names, or have a better ring to them, like

"the shawshank redemption" (one of the best movies made IMO, and not that crash even compares to this movie)

Agreed, I'd put it as one of the Top Three Stephen King movies (Shining, Stand, Shawshank).

For those who never read the story, it's was originally titled "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" found in Different Seasons, a collection of 4 short stories (3 of which were turned into movies). The last one would make a good movie too.

Shawshank actually did very poorly at the cinema. MY local cinea only showed it for three days and for two days they didn't sell one ticket for it.

A couple of my favoturite recent King film is The Green Mile and Rose Red. I think my close favourite miniseries is The Stand and Storm of the Century.

Yeah, how could I forget "Green Mile" it's also in my top 3 (4?)
I was glad they left it long (3+ hours) since it was able to stay pretty close to the book(s) (it was originally published as 6 novellas which were released at 2 or 3 month intervals, I can remember the agonizing wait for the last couple books in the series).

I haven't seen Rose Red yet, the trailer made it look pretty poor, and I thought Storm of the Century was pretty weak, the only King mini-series I think comes close to "The Stand" is the first 2 hours of "It" (once they got to the 'monster' it just got dumb IMHO).
