what do you think: should a trailer contain film scenes?

i´d like to know what you think about trailers especially if they should contain the best film scenes (for ex. like in "war of worlds") or would it be better to have a trailer whith some impressive new or "cut" scenes?


Had a long discussion with some guy these days.He agree´d the trailer to "TheForgotten" is total *shhhht* because it shows the aliens acting and the film itself was boring. So which trailers do you know are really worse and how should a good trailer be set up?

A trailer is usually set up to bait the consumer into going to see the movie, we'll never be able to change how they are made . As you mentioned some trailers are better than the whole movie is. I read reviews about a movie I want to see, talk to friends that seen it and then make my decision on whether or not to go see it at the movies.

but i mean, if you look at those trailers its ridiculous to join one action scene
after another. I allways get headaches watching them.

I think trailers belong behind the cars that are towing them

And all trailers in DVDs should be blanked by default and their menus cut out.
