You know that message when you rent a video that says somthing like, "you may spend 5 years in jail and pay a fine up to $250,000". Well then, to people that rent dvds and burn them, is it possible to be caught? When you decrypt an encrypted dvd and return it, can they tell? I find these as the unavoidable questions around the question 'what is to stop somone from burning everything their local videostore owns?'
Who gets caught?

Mam,
With all respect and admiration, I must inform you that any unauthorized copying of a dvd is actually piracy and hence punishable via our beautiful justice system.
I only use a dvd burner to back up dvd's that are wearing out which I have previously purchased or to burn videos I have made. However, my question is for the sake of better understanding the limits that somone with these poor intentions might have.
Yours truly,

what i know, as i suspect you should, is that a rented dvd is no different that one that is bought. we have all seen this come up here before. nowhere have i implied that i participate in such activity or advise it. period."One day men will look back and say I gave birth to the 20th Century". Perhaps Bebop's question would have been better put in General Discussions.
But certainly no-one could ever figure it out if you did it.
@jmet - don't take the gender thing too hard - it's that stupid av that does it.
