Best game ever, or frustrating as hell? I must admit that I've spent over 50 hours now playing this game (got 100%, all the unique jumps, etc...), but a lot of it felt like work (and hard work at that). Vice City was better balanced, IMO.

Then there's the Hot Coffee mod...

Another Rockstar classic.

The soundtracks variety was superb along with the actual size of the game and the ability to pinch jumbo/fighter jets, parachute from planes/helis, buildings and cliffs was cool.

The Flight School and the jet pack was also pretty neat.

I just wished you could have pimped up the cars a little more (like Rockstar did with Midnight club 3) or pimp up an ambulance or fire truck . They could have also made the casinos a liittle more fun and entertaining

Vice City is still my fave from the series but San Andreas is still amazing. I spent frickin' ages looking for hidden packages on Vice City before cheating.

The flight school annoys a lot of people. But after passing it with extreme difficulty the first time round, I went back after completing the game to get Gold (100%) on all the tests, and it wasn't that hard anymore (still took me 4 hours though).

What I hate most with all the GTA games is that when trying to get the hidden packages or unique jumps, you manage to do them all except for one, but you have no idea which one is it (happened to me this time with the unique jumps - had to go back to old save games to figure it out logically - this took me the better part of 3 hours). This happens because you accidentally pick up packages/do jumps without remembering it during the game - should be an option to not make pick ups/jumps count when needed.

Another feature should be the ability to play certain missions again after you've finished the game - some of them are quite fun.

I own all gta's released so far (all on pc)... bought a new pc just to be able to play it (as well as rome: total war). finished all 100%, quite a journey

something that is really needed is more character interaction (yes and no don't really cut it anymore), as well as a speedometer, and most importantly, more modding and more realistic and better looking vehicles (make them look shiny, for example)

next one is rumored to be released end of 2006/early 2007

Or at least washable. Some of the cars are great except for all the dirt, even after a re-spray job.

They should also work on a better PC graphics engine, because it's not that efficient and doesn't look as good as it can be (think Half Life 2 and Battlefield 2).

But otherwise, one of the great game series of all time.

If so, it's a signifies everything that is wrong with the moral crusade in the US right now. I would understand if it was banned for the violence, but once again it's sex that's the major issue. So it was okay for violent car jackings, police killings, drive-bys, drug dealers (although you do kill them for extra cash) and gang warfare, but a little very artificial sex and polygonal nudity, and it's a moral outrage.

i do not have the mod, nor do i think i ever will. rockstar make great games, but they are oh so stupid.

the way i see it, it is MUCH easier for a teen to commit a 'sexual act' than steal a car, kill a person, etc.

such huge acts of violence are usually the result of mental disablities. no healthy kid would do such a thing.

just thought i'd let you all know, a 1.01 patch came out for the game, it fixes some bugs with the mp3 player and removes the hot coffee mod

@admin: cars are now washable with this patch !!

I love the GTA Series, have them on PS2 from GTAIII to San Andreas and they are one of the few games that I will stick pick up and play after completing them. I see there is a Hot Coffee mod for the PS2 version but so far I haven't been able to get it to work Just like to see what all the fuss is about......

Personally I prefer San Andreas as its a much bigger game but I agree with admin that its harder than the previous games as well. Saying that I spent hours and I mean hours on Vice City trying to find 1 sodding package !! In the end I d/l a map and worked through them in all in order until I got to package 76 that was missed - now that was a pain !! lol

I followed a guide for the unique jumps this time, but I still got stuck with only one left to do. Even after I've confirmed that I've found the missing one, it still took me an hour to do the actual jump (the guides where a bit mis-leading). In case anyone is wondering, it's the one near the pyramid going from west to east (the jump only counts if I make it to the roof of the building next to the car part) - in the end, I had to get the fastest bike possible (the NRG bike used at the docks for that incredibly annoying NRG challenge) to make the jump, but it was hell trying to get the bike from San Fierro to Las Venturas (crashed it twice off the same bridge into the sea ).

One feature they should have had is the ability to pack a semi-trailer (the Packer) full of cars (especially cars from the import/export list at the docks), so I don't have to go back and forth between cities to find the right car. That helicopter that appears in one mission where it allows you to magnetically grab a car would be nice to have too. There should also be a way to continue to get money for stealing cars as well - then the Packer would really be useful. A huge garage where I can store all the cars from the game would be nice too.

Shame about the hot coffee mod, but dirty cars can now get clean.

I thought I saw a PC patch (whilst looking at the Hotcoffee one) to allow you to use a car park (might have been police compound) to store cars..... I might have been wrong tho....

Oh well I still have the unique jumps to do - I agree with you tho that the NRG trial in the docks is most annoying, spent ages on that !! Still the bike is nice and I now have one saved in most of my garages around San Andreas in case I need them

Back to looking for the PS2 Hot Coffee mod, anyone found one that works yet ??

One of the most frustrating mini game has to be the Blood Ring stadium mission - at least the NRG challenge had an element of skill in it, Blood Ring is just pure luck. I was lucky, it only took me two hours to complete it - I was so happy to get it done.
