How did the saveloy go in his first game for your lot? Bet he makes more money playing one season in NFL than in the 10 or so that he played here.

I don't know about the $$$. He had A shaky first game, not too good with the punts , but I'd bet he does great the rest of the year. The man has a heck of a leg. And I can't wait for him to tackle somebody on a return

Edit again - the Iggles did bring back Reno Mahe. After the two boo boos on punts by Lewis and Reed, we need somebody with good hands. Even though Lewis almost had his head taken off and Reed dove for the ball and missed it. Reed is now gone.

Sounds like this isn't the first time the Pats have been caught spying

Steelers assistant coaches say privately that New England coach Bill Belichick has illegally used cameras to spy on opposing coaches flashing signals from the sideline for years, even when he was coach of the Cleveland Browns.
The NFL has confiscated a video camera and its contents from a Patriots employee who was standing on the sideline during New England's victory against the New York Jets Sunday, recording hand signals by Jets coaches, according to an ESPN report.
The Patriots reportedly were warned about a previous use of a camera in a similar situation in Green Bay after the Packers escorted the cameraman from the field. A Boston Globe report also said the Buffalo Bills complained that the Patriots used a camera in a game against them last year.

Everybody in the game does it. It is impossible to know just how much of an advantage it gives you, although people are willing to fracture rules and honor in an attempt to find out. It is an artificial enhancer of your natural talent that offers you a competitive advantage and lopsides the playing field.

Are we talking about steroids here or stealing signs?

If you are outraged by Barry Bonds and call him a sinister fraud, then you have to think the same of champion cheat Bill Belichick today if you want to be consistent.

You are right.

Belichick's crime is probably worse morally because he ought to know better as the authority figure, and because he was specifically told that videotaping signs was prohibited and he flatly ignored the warning anyway. That makes his arrogance and defiance even more galling than that of Bonds, who may have been rubbing cream on his body because, as we are now learning, everybody in his contaminated and ungoverned sport was doing it at a time when no one was being told to stop doing it.

And, as Jay Gibbons and Rick Ankiel and Troy Glaus and Rafael Palmeiro and Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire can tell you, so were steroids.

HGH is illegal, too, so that's where some people will go in objecting to this comparison. But it has been wink-wink illegal throughout sports for a long time now, not unlike marijuana. It isn't like DEA agents have been invading gyms throughout our land arresting bodybuilders and professional wrestlers. HGH has become part of the fabric of our sports. Former running back Robert Smith guesses that 30 percent of the NFL is presently using HGH, and he admits he's probably being conservative with that guess. Will you call the alleged marriage-wrecking Belichick, who has a lot of dishonesty recorded in both his professional and personal life, a liar and cheater and fraud with the same intensity that you do Bonds?

Belichick stands accused of institutional fraud today. He knowingly broke the rules after being told not to do it. And if you think stealing signs is a no-big-deal advantage, and a part of all our games, you don't see the difference between the runner at second base stealing the catcher's signs and the New York Yankees installing a secret camera in the second-base bag to do so.

If he didn't think it gave him a substantive edge, Belichick probably wouldn't have been purposely ignoring league rules after being warned not to do it. And if you don't think that knowing what is coming helps in something that moves as fast as our professional games, tell it to Andy Pettitte. The Diamondbacks beat him 15-2 in Game 6 of a World Series because he was tipping his pitches. Every Arizona player had a hit before the third inning. No big deal, right? All it did was cost the Yankees a championship.

About the Patriots - cheatin' is cheatin' whether it be drugs or a camera, anything to get an edge. But after being caught one time and being warned and if then caught again, the league should come down heavy on them.
Suspension or banning of the head coach, and anyone involved in addition to losing draft picks, and a heavy fine sounds good to me. It shoulda been done the first time

Looks like Belichick and the Pats got off easy to me, only a $500K fine for the coach and $250K fine for the team and lose of 1 1st round draft pick or a 2nd and third round pick and they still have a first rounder . Especially after the coach said he interpreted the rule differently.

NFL rules state "no video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game." They also say all video for coaching purposes must be shot from locations "enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead."

That was re-emphasized in a memo sent Sept. 6 to NFL head coaches and general managers. In it, Ray Anderson, the league's executive vice president of football operations wrote: "Videotaping of any type, including but not limited to taping of an opponent's offensive or defensive signals, is prohibited on the sidelines, in the coaches' booth, in the locker room, or at any other locations accessible to club staff members during the game."

I think they got off easy as well.He makes 4mill this year and the fine handed down is not that big of hit to his pocket book. I also think he should have been suspended.
