it means the file is corrupt. there is little you can do about it, especially because it has only 1 file. if it had 10, chances are only 1/10 would have been corrupt, and the rest OK. still, try the 'repair' function in winrar. beyond that, the only solution is to get the file again...

alienfinder, I use to good the same error message when downloading DVD covers. I fixed it by using WinAce - http://www.winace.com/ . (Or try updating your WinRAR)

sorry, read your post too quickly

if it indeed does happen with many files, you should make sure you have the latest version of winrar (3.5 i think). it may be another compressed file type which has been renamed with the rar extention.

winrar supports pretty much all of them, so you're quite safe there.

@jmet: i last used winace around 5 years ago, at version 2.2 or 2.4 (can't remember). it had been so long since an update, so i assumed it was dead.

do not understand why somebody would put a heavily compressed video file in a rar file. as you have witnessed alienfinder, unfortunately there is much less chance of recovering from errors encountered during downloading, not to mention the almost useless compression ratio...

like i said, if there were multiple files, an archive format would be a good idea...

i think it was stupid to make it a rar because its only one file.
