Ok I decided to postpone my camera purchase off for another week or two to do some more research I decided if I can spend $180 why not bump it up a notch and get a better camera these are the two I am looking at the Sony DSC-W7 and the Olympus Camedia C-7000 so if any one has an opinion on these cameras would be greatComment

EDIT
----------------------------
I just found this one it is a 7 pix as well with a friendlier price OLYMPUS SP-310Last edited by BR7; 31 Dec 2005, 10:32 PM.Comment

I have had a few Olympus and they were ok. They did do nice photos but a few things I didn't like so much.
The flash was often overpowering.
The movie mode was Quicktime and just 320 resolution with no sound. They also had a limit on how long the cips were.
Tiny screens (1"-1.5") and not many pixels which showed less detail.
The Sony's has a option to raise and lower the power of the flash. Also, the movie mode is mpeg with sound. It also only limits the length of the clip buy the amount of memory in the camera. A 512MB Memory Stick can do 20 minutes of 640 x 480.
The Sony's have 2.5" screen (except for Sony S80 which is 2"). The Sony screens have always been superb and have fluid motion with no jerkiness and good colour/contrast. I had a Sony Mavica which actually used floppy disks to record in (late 1990's). The screen was like 3.5" and was massive. The screens on the current cameras look the same just smaller.Comment

My dad's Olympus takes forever to take pics. And the videos are 320x240 MOV files that have sound, but the qual sucks, and you have to almost shout into the mic to make it pick up the sound. I am quite happy with the DSC-S90, and I just purchased one earlier. I will let you guys know once the camera comes in (I ordered it online) and maybe provide some pics, probably of my computer setup.CYA Later:
