    Was the site down?

Just curious. Yesterday, it gave me a "could not find page" or whatever error from 3 of the computers in my house. Luckily it works now.

Also, is forums.digital-digest.com a mirror for the main forums? Because at school it blocks forum.digital-digest.com so I use forums and it works. And so it blocks some stuff from blutach's signature. I just change to forums and it works.

The forum was down yesterday due to a problem with the server.

Yes, there are two adresses to the forum.

I don't have any problems to access blutach sig in any of the adresses to the forum.

Odd. It was yesterday for a few hours. You are probably in a different time zone, so when you connected, I was probably either at school or asleep.

I am talking about at school. They block the domain of forum.digital-digest.com so I am forced to connect thru the forums domain. That is why, as his sig links to forum.digital-digest.com which is blocked.

And thanks. At least my computer is not malfunctioning

yes, yesterday night(night in my place) i got lots of "could not find page" .
when i could back to the forum,i saw posts with big differences in times.
had one long sequence that was stoped and the next after this interval had round 04:30 later.
this happened only in the forum!
the home digest, divx digest, dvd digest and dvd+- digest was working ok.

today was 5 minutes more or less and now is hard to open and post.
to answer TNT a few hours was needed to login 4 times because after i posted, got only "page not found".

            bye!

Hmmm... What happened to forums.digital-digest.com? It tries to redirect to some site that requires logging in. Hence, now I can't get to here from school, as it blocks forum.digital-digest.com, forcing me to use the other.

There was some slight lagging, and so I just tried reloading the page, and closing some tabs. It worked sometimes, and sometimes it just kept trying to load. No biggie just went to something else then came back. There seems to be issues overall w/FF, and IE. I just got a explorer needs to shut down message twice. Using IE 8 right now to check it out. I usually come here w/FF. I'll go to FF now, and see if any issues.

This was yesterday and night before by the way. also now w/explorer issue.

Is this referring to the forum or the main site?

I've been testing a few things on both servers recently, so there might be some glitches in these couple of days.

Yes, it did happen on both. I was reading your Blog, and also checking out some software on the main site, and there was some glitches as well. This last post above was the forum. I wonder if there's a service pack coming for Win 7 32 or 64 regarding anything. I don't know why Explorer would close on me. Everything else and for the most part all the time is going well. M$ Essentials is working great.

Do you know if Google is messing w/their Algorithm again, making FF have those crashes everyone is reporting? 1 thing though like I posted, their voice chat feature in G-Mail is crisp and steady. I'll be testing a cam soon. Thnx.

Those FF crashes are probably FF's fault. The browser has been getting more and more buggy with every release.

If both servers were slow at the same time, then it may not something else that's the issue. The next time it happens, try to ping the site (open up a command prompt in Windows, type: "ping www.digital-digest.com" and then try "ping forum.digital-digest.com") - if you get timeouts then it could suggest a network issue, somewhere between your home connection and the servers (located in Texas).

For further diagnosis, you can then try: tracert www.digital-digest.com, which shows you the route that connects you to the server, and so you can find out where the timeout occurs.

FYI, I'm getting some timeouts during the traceroute at the moment connecting to the forum (one of the "theplanet.com" servers), suggesting my web host is having some hardware issues at the moment.

Note that because the main website also relies on the forum's server for ad hosting, if the forum's server is slow, then the main website may be slow as well.

I'll try that ping and get back w/the results. Also is that tracert thing a command prompt also? I see you underlined your web url? If for some reason I don't get any pings it'll be on Verizon as they control the networking, and are in no hurry to open up bandwidths or change anyone to another less congested one. I already argued w/them about that. I'll do the ping asaic. Let me know about the tracer thingy. Thnx. At least now you're seeing some timeouts, so you know something's up.
