Well I almost got a hall of fame burn out of the LG 4136B. AN16
5m33s for 4.35 gigs verb 16x dvd+r
was sitting on 97% until 4.2 Gigs few late pif spikes at 5-7
dropped it to 93% 2nd verb burned at this speed

did an 8x burn ~8 min next
pie's are stayying around 3-6
pretty pretty pie avg 2.71 pif avg 0.02 QS 97
almost catches the TY 4x dvd-r's

I am reconsidering this drive.

+r bittsetting to dvd-rom, 8 minute burning at 97
on cheap media($0.30 a disk)

the nec 3520 and benq 1620 suffered significant learning curves
with this media(1st burns)
the nec took almost 14 minutes to do the first 16x burn
the benq 9 minutes
the lg no learning curve(1st and 2nd burn times same/3sec diff)

4xburnlg(4 th disk)

It's a good burner - what can I say. I've learned to live without the stats. If I want them, I'll buy a crappy lite on.

with the 1.05 firmware and ritek disks (16x +'s) I was very unhappy
with it, might have been a corrupt flash??

now it's turning into one of the best, with these verbatim cheapo disks,
mitshubishi(sp?) is really gonna kill memorex and cmc mag's at
30 centavos a disk

cheapo does not imply bad quality hehehehe

So long as they're made in Japan. As for Memorex and CMC, they're doing a good enough job of killing themselves just by marketing their own crap.

I did some searches on the verb, 16x dvd+r's
Looked like they are all made by mitsu.... in taiwan
they probably sent enough japanese managers and techs with
the technology to pull it off.
Like singapore and the verb dvd DL plant.
