TV Movies

Apparently The Matrix is going to be on TNT soon. Now, my parents do not let me watch R rated movies, but my friend told me that on TV, they edit the movie and make it TV-14. Is that true for TNT, or just other channels? I know there is no "R" rating on TV, so it must be either TV14 or TVMA. The question is, which one? Anyone know? If is TV-14 I will definately watch it.

To answer your question it will be TV-14-V here is the Link if you want to check it out for yourself
All the superstations edit movies as do most other channels with the exception of the comedy channel after 11pm and the IFC Channel,Fox Movies or premium channels such as HBO,Starz, and Showtime or pay perview
you would be better off renting it TV has a way of stretching 2 hour movies to 3-4 hour movies

It is definitely rated R in the US. It is a 15 in the UK but a head butt was taken out. The BBFC doesn't like head butts as they are a imitable technique that youngsters may do (regardless the film having people doing kung fu on each other/shooting each other).

it was rated M 15+ here, meaning anybody under 15 can watch it, as long as they're with an "adult"(anybody 18 or over). no restrictions

A R rated film is usually either a 15 or a 18. No one under those ages can see the film (even with a adult).

However, there have been exceptions. A recent new rating is 12A. Anyone under 12 can see the film as long as with a adult. Bourne Identity was the first 12A film. Amazingly, Terminator 3 which is a R rated film got a 12A at the cinema. I saw people not much older than 7 or 8 at the screening I went to.

Also, there is no 12A on DVD/VHS so the film goes up to a 15 or put down to a 12 (Spiderman was the first ever 12 on DVD and was a 12A at the cinema). Terminator 3 became a 15.

I would watch it since I am 14 and it is rated TV14. I taped it last night (on too late for me to watch) so I will watch it later, and then whaddya know the sequel is on today!
Some of my friends said that "oh they changed it to PG-13" in a feeble attempt to get me to watch it... but I don't wanna disobey my parents. Now I don't have to

Just watched it on TNT, it is a great movie! You could tell when stuff was edited, like on one part, someone said "holy smokes" and that was clearly not what they said, watching the lips. And I am sure they did not say "oh shoot" in an R-rated movie, like they did several times in the TV version. Still a brilliant movie.
